Faults:

I got this car second owner, through a dealer. Previous owner passed it on to his wife, wife got too old and sold it back to the original dealer.

So this car was in quite premo condition. The only thing that went wrong so far is that the battery went, but I should have replaced that out of principle since this is was an older car.

I had all of the fluids changed just to make sure.

The drivers seat heater is out.

General Comments:

The family loves this car.

We have been through conversion vans, blazers, Caprice station wagons, older caddies and everyone likes this car best. I think this series is the best last big car you can buy. Mileage has been better than expected, about 20MPG around town if we are careful, 29 on the highway at 70MPH.

The Northstar might not be the hottest engine around, but this car gets up and goes like none I've had before. It's nice to have SOME performance with all that confort. It has a greally great sound too, which makes you feel like you have performance under the hood. Seats are great, holding up well.

Yes you have to add oil to the engines, but its by design. I just use cheap oil, add it and change it frequently. I have nice 92 Buick Riveria with 30K miles- it's a great car, but I'm thinking of selling and getting a second DeVille. For the money and mileage and power I think I'd be happier!

Faults:

Heater fan motor died, dual climate control malfunctioned, power antenna stopped working in the up position, service soon & check air bags light comes on from time to time.

General Comments:

Overall a nice car; the Northstar motor is very powerful & I can get around 25 mpg on the h-way (about 16-17 in the city) however it must have premium gas only. I have not had a lot of problems, but when I do its costly. But I find this car is mechanically so complicated its actually cheaper to have the dealer fix it as they usually know right away what's wrong with it. At 80k miles, the suspension, struts, etc. seem to be getting a bit tired. The car has a few rattles over bumps & the front end seems to bottom out sometimes going into parking lots. But over all it's a nice car, a good looking car (many people think its much newer than it is) and I might buy another (newer body style) some day.

Faults:

I bought the car at a dealer's auction. I know, bad idea, but I'm young and have learned my lesson.

On the drive home, I noticed popping when I gunned it. Took it to get the codes read; there were 9 codes. A cylinder was missing, 3 or 4 sensors out of range, just terrible, and I was stuck, couldn't sell it because the problems were so noticeable.

I was going to keep it for another month, replace the O2 sensor, there's four by the way, that sucks, and get a tune up, wow, that's only 1500 bucks. Wanted to do the O2 sensor myself. The geniuses at Cadillac had a strut bar on top of the sensor, so a major disassembly was necessary, then 1000 later, blown head gasket, the car overheats, and I'm ready to cry. 3000$ to fix, can't imagine what a dealer would charge.

General Comments:

I will never buy a Cadillac unless it's under warranty the entire time I own it.

And to all the jackasses with Cadillac, try rethinking the aluminium heads on the motor; the stupidest idea since the SRX.

I can't believe the amount of quality you get for the price. My mechanic said they're put together like jigsaw puzzles. 15000$ just to install a new starter.

Do yourself a favor and shop somewhere other than Cadillac if you value your money.
