1994 Cadillac Seville STS 4.6
Summary:
Most poorly engineered, over advertised vehicle I have owned to date
Faults:
Oil leak at 104500km.
Five attempted repairs at dealer unsuccessful.
Head bolts pulled out at 105000km.
Engine removed and top end rebuild ($3500) performed.
Main bearing failure at 105200km.
Five engines installed between 1999 and 2003 ($5000).
After repair, the car taken to a dealer who recommended an additional $4600 of repairs.
Traded in and lost a total of $24,000.00 on this car, for 5000 km of very troubled driving and court battles.
Power windows failed regularly.
I bailed more water out of my STS than I bailed out of my boat.
Was insulted by Cadillac engineering without apology.
General Comments:
Best use of premium gas in a four door when it ran.
Dreadful support from Cadillac, and no willingness to fix known flaws that other manufacturers have repaired.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I just bought a 94 Seville STS with 202,000 miles. It runs like an absolute dream. I'm usually into muscle cars, so its also driven like one. It has consumed no oil from my use to date, solid drive train and superlative handling characteristics. I guess its all in how the car is maintained. I plan on buying another one. brennan_coop@hotmail.com.

I agree with everything you have written about Cadillacs lack of interest in the problems. I'm surprised that no media attention has ever focused on these models and a recall issued.
