2001 Cadillac Seville SLS 4.6

Summary:

A perfect balance of sport and comfort

Faults:

I too had an issue with tire vibration as soon as I took the car on its first highway trip. The vibration began at 70 miles per hour. Strangely, it did not get worse as speed increased as one might expect with a typical tire or balance problem. The dealer replaced two of the Michelins with new Michelins - telling me the problem related to "flat spots" on the tires. The vibration has disapeared, but I am skeptical of the explanation provided by the dealer in light of all I have read in this forum.

General Comments:

Other than the vibration issue, which is solved for now, the car is phenomenal. I have previously owned a Lexus and several Chrysler LHS'. None of those vehicles hold a candle to the balance of sport and luxury Cadillac has achieved with the Seville.

Just bought a previously owned SLS with 34k miles on it and took it up to Sacramento from San Diego. Wonder of wonders, on one tank of gas, averaged 70mph with the a/c running all the way and averaged 29.2mpg.

2001 Cadillac Seville STS 4.6L V8

Summary:

A high performance value with a dual personality - performance AND luxury

Faults:

Good Year Eagle tire vibration at 75mph corrected by dealer with premium Michelin tires upon 1st request.

General Comments:

This car is incredibly fast for its size (0-60 in low 6 seconds!), while providing a quiet, comfortable ride if driven calmly.

This is my second (and won't be my last!) STS. Both have been extremely reliable with low operating costs - particularly when compared with my past Mercedes and Jaguar.

I have had no problems except a crank shaft position sensor on my 2000 Seville Touring Sedan which was corrected after only two visits, the car runs great and I have 15500 miles. It is a blast to drive and my dream car. I hope it lasts.

My 2000 STS is a great/sporty car - the best on the market.

While enjoying the sporty ride, I did notice major problems with the vibration in the front suspension.

I had to change my Good Year Eagles tires after 20,000 miles for brand new ones - I selected Vredestein high performance tires (very expensive), but since I haven't been experiencing any problems.

Finally, you need to forget about the driver heated seat, not reliable and very expensive to repair.

Yes, it does burn a lot of oil for such a great engine. You need to check constantly.

2001 Cadillac Seville SLS 4.6 V8

Summary:

A great American ride!

Faults:

There have been very few problems with this car. I was very unhappy with the original Goodyear Integrity tires. They were only S speed rated and much too compliant.

Bought Michelin Pilot's at 8000 miles and have loved the improved handling.

Car now rides and handles like a different car!

General Comments:

This is the best riding car I have ever driven. I formerly owned a 2000 ES300 Lexus and the Cadillac is a much smoother and more powerful car.

It is extremely quiet on the highway with little wind noise evident at high speed.

The Seville has the white diamond paint. This gets many compliments. It's a real "stand out".

Best bang for the buck car out there. I am on my second one now, 3 friends now own one after riding in my first one. It's got it all; sexy to look at, fast, smooth, beautiful leather, awesome stereo, sunroof. Every car has problems, not many offer everything that a Seville has to offer. Best of all, it's a GM. Support the land you stand upon, imports are ruining our nation.
