1998 Cadillac STS

Summary:

Terribly faulty

Faults:

I got this car last year, first time owning a Caddy, and will be the last.

I understand that owning an older vehicle can always mean running into a few repair costs. However the way this car ages, is like dog years.

It leaks water from the front side passenger floor, and not just a bit, like water will pour onto the floor creating a river.

The heated seats stopped working. Checked the fuses to no help.

The heater/air only works for the driver, for example, if it is cold out and you turn up the heat, cold air will blow on your passenger, and in the summer, if you have the air on, hot air will blow on your passenger!

Front suspension is dangerously soft (but that is one thing that I can understand being an older car).

Fuel consumption seems a bit much, and I have owned V8's before.

Sun roof started sagging in the back corner, but does not leak water, just looks bad.

Power steering stops working in a parking lot; if I don't apply a lot of gas, the power steering becomes strong arm, really difficult to park a big Caddy.

General Comments:

Great car, but has some electrical issues occasionally. Had a coolant leak, which turned out to be cracked radiator and worn water pipe that runs behind the engine, and had worn.

Driver's side rear window stopped working at 110,000. Cleaned connection between B-Pillar and passenger side door to resolve.

Latest was broken rear trunk backup, running and license plate lights. Turned out to be broken wire at driver's side trunk hinge. Spliced an additional 6 inches of wire to re-connect.

Michelin 100H tires seem to be the best for this car.

Need to replace front wheel bearings at 120,000.
