Faults:

Transmission was rebuilt twice in 3 years. 1st time I think the transmission repair shop didn't do it right. I took it to a national chain transmission shop, no problems since.

I took this vehicle off the road for two years. I had a few repairs to do, because it sat for so long. New gas lines, fuel pump, brake lines, fuel filter, brake pads, rotors and drums, oil change, wiper blades, and a new battery.

Recently I had the fuel pump sending unit replaced, along with a new gas tank (which showed some rust).

The transmission selector on the dash stopped lighting up on the R,N,D,3,2 spaces, so I had the gauge unit replaced with a used one (which lowered the mileage reading), but the same lights did not work on the replacement one. I didn't bother with chasing down the problem.

The outside has a good amount of rust over the passenger side wheel well. Also some along the bottom of the top dutch door section. Some of the paint is peeling on the hood.

The interior is in excellent condition. A few missing pieces of plastic trim on seats, not a problem, small wear tear on the driver's seat, and a soda spill stain on the floor in front of the driver's seat.

General Comments:

The vehicle is still running great, considered taking it on an upcoming trip to Georgia, but the wife got a little nervous when I mentioned it.

Faults:

The heater and a/c fan in the front broke.

The windsheild wiper motor functions only on high.

Recently, the timing got messed up, the starter went and the radiator leaked.

The rear door arms broke.

The alternator went in 2002.

General Comments:

Excellent vehicle. Was highly abused and runs like a beast. The transmission shifts fast and smoothly under any conditions. Never got stuck in the snow. Used to transport building materials including a ton (literally 2000 lbs) of cement mix and 3 large people without any problem. Go anywhere, do anything vehicle. WILL NOT DIE.

Faults:

Alternator went out at 149,500 miles.

Upper Ball Joint on passenger side at 149,500 miles, just two days after replacing alternator.

Power Steering Pump went out at 152,000 miles.

At 153,000 the Upper Ball Joint on the passenger side had to be replaced again, this time under warranty.

The ABS Wheel Sensor had to be replaced at 153,000 miles just the very next day.

Neutral Safety Switch had to be replaced at 154,000 miles.

Water Pump and Serpentine Belt both had to be replaced at the same time at 156,000 miles.

Shocks are needing replacement as we speak.

General Comments:

I have owned this van for about 6 months, and during that 6 months have done about $1000 worth of work, and that's with it only being repaired by a repair shop once. The rest of the times myself or a family friend did the repairs.

The van doesn't have much cargo space with both back seats in. There is not much leg room in the front.

The seats are quite comfortable.

The van does have great power and good handling.

General Comments:

Doesn't have much frontal leg room.

Handling is good and responsive.

Very little road noise.

Descent take off speed.

Handles descent around curves, if you are used to driving a top heavy vehicle. Not easy to take curves in, if you're not used to driving a top heavy vehicle, and does take getting used to. Theses vans are more like driving a truck, than a van, since they're built on a truck frame, not a car frame, like a lot of minivans.

Haven't had a lot of problems with the van considering it has 150,000 miles, and being a volunteer on a rescue team I cannot baby it. I put a lot of wear and tear on a vehicle, and also run a full size light bar which does draw a lot of power. Overall it's a great van with very few problems.

As with any vehicle though, maintenance plays a big role and so does driving habit.

Mechanical work isn't easy to perform on the van, do to half the engine sitting inside the van.
