Faults:

84,000 Original miles.

Body badly rusted (good old American construction).

Headliner droops, had to staple to keep up.

Factory Delco still works, have to push power button a few times before it turns on though.

Tailgate Lock mechanism does not open tailgate or tailgate window, have to use the inside tailgate window button.

Power windows work, but drivers side does need help going all the way down.

Had to replace rear break line ($200).

Replaced both fuel injectors ($100 Ebay special)

Leaks oil from the valve covers.

Replaced Cat and exhaust ($350)

Have to hold up tailgate window with head per shocks shot.

General Comments:

Overall is a good vehicle has not cost a lot as far as repairs.

We call him "Bullet hole bob" per the rust, the drivers side has a rust hole the size of a fist.

Only has 84,000 miles on it, too bad previous owner did not take care of him.

Has the scary 2.8 Liter engine with an automatic trans, has enough power till you get to a hill or incline.

Faults:

Nothing has ever been wrong with this car. One time it leaked because there was a hole in the radiator! but then I bought I new radiator for 30 bucks and that's all that's ever been wrong. The seatbelt also stopped working so I had to get one form the junk yard for 5 dollars. The other bad thing is that putting gas is painful. This car only gets 14 miles per gallon if you drive like an old lady. It gets 11 if you even try to drive fast. If you don't like speeding then it's a good car I have never gotten a speeding ticket in it! This car is unstoppable though it has never not started up. My aunt bought it new and two of my cousins owned it before me so I know it's a very reliable car.

General Comments:

This car always starts up.

Faults:

Interior ergonomics

* hand hits seat when window is rolled up/down

* vent lever positioned directly above emergency brake resulting in bent vent lever

* rear-view mirror hits sun-visor when the sunvisor is down

* front seating position is terrible due to lack of seating adjustments.

Gas mileage

Although my Blazer is a two-wheel drive and has a five speed with 2.8 V6 engine, it gets worse highway gas mileage than my 1977 Trans Am which has a 400 V8.

Power

Blazer has less power than my old 1991 Nissan King Cab which had a 2.4 cubic inch four cylinder.

General Comments:

Reasons to buy a 1987 Blazer:

* Looks

* Ground clearance

* Inexpensive parts

* Roomy back seat

Reasons not to buy a 1987 Blazer:

* Lousy gas mileage (22 highway)

* Lack of power (2.8 V6 was a dud)

* Poorly designed interior

* Uncomfortable seats.

I realize that the Blazers have improved over the years, particularly with the introduction of the 4.3 V6. However, these trucks represent the low point in American SUV engineering.
