1991 Chevrolet Blazer full size 5.7L 350

Summary:

Everything you need in a truck!

Faults:

The ball joints had to be replaced when I got it and they looked like stock joints when I took the previous ones off. other than that everything worked perfect.

At 200,000 miles the stock clutch needed to be replaced. After a while it wouldn't disengage all the way.

Dash cracked apart.

General Comments:

Parts for this truck are cheap and plentiful.

Many modifications and accessories are available and are extremely cheap for this truck.

Very easy to work on mechanically.

Extremely safe vehicle, I hit a rock wall head on at 55 mph (hit some black-ice) and only got mild whiplash. The truck was toast of course. It bent the frame, motor mounts, shock mounts, both front fenders, one door and buckled the hood. It also has a built in roll bar.

The power this truck has is amazing. Especially with the TBI 350 and the four speed with a "granny" low gear. It could pull the stink off a skunk.

Did OK on gas mileage. 15-ish in the city and on the highway it got 20mpg. Pretty good for the power it has.

1991 Chevrolet Blazer S10 4 door 4.3 / 267

Summary:

Not quite as good as a fullsize, but nothing is as good as a fullsize Chevy

Faults:

Nothing, it just keeps going and going.

Once at a red light, after a long drive, it was idling a little roughly. Probably needs a minor tune up.

My tires were baldish when I bought the truck, and I got the seller down $600 because of that. I then bought new tires of the proper size as stated on the door jamb.

General Comments:

I like the fact this truck has 4 doors, and I like the 4.3 litre engine, being that Chevy sticks to one way of making engines, because they make the best engines available in anything.

A 4.3 is a 350 with 2 cylinders cut off, the stroke and bore of the engines are the same. The bell housing of a 4.3 will bolt up to any Chevy tranny that had a small block V8 or a big block V8 attached to it. Why change designs when you're making the best, and the legendary engine that made auto sport what it is today.

Half of the car magazines that I know of all got their start by featuring the great Chevy V8 lineup of engines.

It's a 262.

You are correct. Nothing beats a full size Chevrolet.

But the S10's are fun, just a pain to work on. Everything underneath is too tight.

1991 Chevrolet Blazer s10 4.3 TBI

Summary:

This is very trust able.

Faults:

Nothing has really gone wrong with this Blazer yet. I replaced a fuel pump at about 190,000 miles, and the oil filter hose at, 204,000 miles, was leaking at the crimp. But besides those two things nothing has gone wrong with it. It is rusty because I do live in Wisconsin. But the interior is holding up very nicely and is very comfortable.

General Comments:

This Blazer handles itself very nicely the 4*4 works great, it started right up at 20 below, with a little bit of gas because f the TBI, lots of room, and looks great. This is very reliable and I love this year and make. Strong engine and not hard to work on or fix things. Transmission flush and filter, plugs, wires, air cleaner, and new rear shocks is what I did at 200,000 miles. But if you keep it up to date it will treat you the same.

1991 Chevrolet Blazer S-10 4.3

Summary:

Overall, it's a great truck

Faults:

The water pump and serpentine belt broke at 90,000 miles. The cost was $716.00 including labor.

General Comments:

It's very sporty looking, comfortable and fun to drive.

When driving in snow, the clearance height is great for plowing through and over drifts.

She's a little rusty toward the bottom of the outer panels, but I guess that's normal for a truck of her age.

Just big enough to feel safe, small enough to maneuver quickly.
