1995 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3

Summary:

I like it

Faults:

The other day I drove 25 miles. I stopped for 10 minutes, the truck would not start. It turned over, but would not fire up. I waited 10 minutes and tried again to start it. Turns over, but would not fire up.

I did smell gas, so I went to the gas cap and removed it. There was a lot of pressure that came out and kept on coming out for 15 minutes. I tried to start it again. It started, then stalled. So I waited another 10 minutes and it started.

I drove home. It is still running days later, but, it takes 3 times in the morning to get started. I replaced the fuel filter, it did not help.

Can anyone help with an idea before I take it to the shop? critter5050@yahoo.com

PS, it is a 1995 Blazer 4x4 4.3L

General Comments:

This truck seems to run very well, I like it.

I would most likely guess the problem to be your EGR valve. a lot of carbon deposits get built up in there and cause a lot of problems for starting/running the vehicle. I replaced mine at about 93,000 miles and it happened again. I then bought a screen that fits directly into the EGR valve for five dollars from the JC Whitney catalog and have had no problems since! so you might want to look into that part. hope this helps!

I have owned a 1995 Chevy Blazer LT for 12 years now, and have overall been very satisfied with the vehicle, but to be fair, I tend to not use it as my general purpose back-n-forth to work vehicle. It currently has 115,000 miles on it. I have experienced some fuel system related issues. I have replaced the fuel pump twice so far (located internal to the gas tank), and a couple of brake pad and rotor replacements. Other than that, nothing major. I've been reading a few of the later model (2000+) blazer horror stories on this site, and can only conclude that the mid-90's versions were just built better perhaps before sub-standard quality parts issues started creeping in to cut costs in production.. happens in every industry, everywhere unfortunately.

1995 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3L Vortex

Summary:

Dependable road warrior

Faults:

Initially needed the EGR valve and O2 sensor replaced after driving it on highway from where purchased. EGR problems fixed with replacement of gasket with Tomco 2-1357 gasket purchased from Autozone.

General Comments:

Has a lot of go with the V-6.

Comfortable interior with plenty of space to haul most things.

Larger than most vehicles on the road, but not a monster either.

Summary:

I LOVE IT

Faults:

We bought our 95 Blazer in Feb of 2006. Never have had nothing go wrong with it up until a few days ago and the oxygen sensor started going out. luckily we had a friend tells us what was wrong with it. We both have been a Chevy fan for a long time. and I must say with just this minor set back that still will not change a thing. And I must say with me driving 60 miles 6 days a week to get back and forth to work I really can't complain.

1995 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3

Summary:

Not the first Blazer and definitely not the last

Faults:

Map sensor at around 71000 but only cost 30 bucks to fix.

General Comments:

I love this truck the performance for a SUV was very good I could leave a nice patch of rubber on the ground when it was stock. I am not going to list what I have now, but it's a lot faster now. Other than the map sensor this trucks been good and I beat the hell out of it. The main reason I bought this truck was I had one before with 180,000 and it never skipped a beat so I know this one will last. The only thing I don't like is the gas mileage it gets. I would recommend the blazer to anyone.
