1998 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3

Summary:

Alright

Faults:

My 1998 LS Blazer needed a new OIL COOLANT LINE at about 40,000 miles. A couple of months later my driver side window motor failed on me while I had my window down and it was raining. The problem didn't stop when my wife was driving home from work, the HEATER CORE went out on her at 70,000 miles. The funny thing about it was I had to change the SEAT ADJUSTER on the passenger side because it broke on my brother while he was trying to adjust his seat. It was a very uncomfortable ride for my wife and little brother. I changed it right away when we arrived home in Michigan. At the time I had just recently bought the SUV. Right now I am experiencing some suspension problem on the driver side and the vehicle only has 80,000 miles on it. Recently, I also had to fix a leak on the wiper hose for the back because it was leaking all over the bottom of the carpet. I didn't realized this until I was vacuuming and saw a puddle of washer fluid coming from the bottom of the back seat. I took the interior apart and fixed the problem. I guessed there are too many minor problems with this vehicle when it hasn't even reached the 100,000 miles yet.

General Comments:

I have always liked and enjoyed GM products. At this point I owned two American made vehicles, one is a Ford Taurus and the other, a Blazer. The Blazer, I still have some faith in it, but it has cost too much to fix this and that. As an Asian American, I tried to support American products, but the quality is not there anymore. My wife and I have decided to switch to a Japanese vehicle after the Blazer goes down.

1998 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.8 V6

Summary:

High maintenance vehicle

Faults:

Well let me start out with the fact that I love my Blazer and I try to take care of it the best that I can afford.

The first thing was I think the blower, well at least as far as I can tell, all I no is that the connection for the blower melted. I was able to purchase another one from a local Chevy dealer in the area for about $10.00.

I then drove it about 2800 mile trip up to my folks house. On the way my rear speakers started working only part time, then sometimes, then nothing. Don't get me wrong the stock CD player and 4 front speaker still sound plenty good, but still I like to get what I pay for, right. Then came the real shocker. As I was climbing the mountains of Tennessee it began to rain so I switched on the windshield wipers. Boy was I surprised to find out they didn't work. Got lucky and found a gas station used rain x took care of that problem and made it safely both ways. Even though I made it back that, could have been a real problem. You no what I mean?

Now only a month after I replaced the plug for the air conditioning blower. It melted again. Now I live in Southern Florida and if you have ever lived here it hardly ever gets cold. So the air gets a lot of use.

I have not had air for about 2 years now. They said it would cost me $360 to replace the blower. I no the blower works, but somethings wrong with it. Also something on the passenger side front is making noise. Haven't checked that out yet. Also the seals around both front doors are blown away and water pores in.

General Comments:

My blazer is awesome to drive. If the air was fixed and could rely on the windshield wipers I would like it better. It handles well. It has plenty of space. Pretty good gas mileage. The engine is quick when you need it to be and purrs like a kitten the rest. You buy a vehicle like this plan on spending later.
