1999 Chevrolet Blazer LS 2WD 4D 4.3L V6
Summary:
Compact family truck
Faults:
No floor defrost. Actuator replaced.
Window lock switch failed. Had to jumper it till repaired.
Idler pulley replaced and in need of replacement (Harmonic balancer not balanced)
Brake cable not working in reverse. Stretched I think.
Alternator went out at >30k. Think it didn't help I ran it in foot of water at high speeds. Lights dimmed and everything several times. ;)
Radiator cap corroded.
Fuel pump died at 35k.
Handles both broke off.
Luggage rack suffering extreme wind damage.
Chevy failed to install rear pass. bump stop. Informed shop and they didn't know what I was talking about till I pointed out. Given rental and on 3rd day due to parts, was asked what the trouble was. Idiots "assumed" I was talking about the front spring pop issue and replaced tons of parts on the front end even though it never suffered from problems (like my S-10).
Muffler sounds like it is leaking. Replaced and then brought back where header seals replaced. Ongoing, but hardly noticeable except to me.
Temp gauge 7+ degrees off.
General Comments:
Kinda scared after reading the other reviews.
I have not had noise or loose indication in front suspension for ball joints yet.
Hubs seem OK.
S-10 had several annoying faults like this. However for the most part it has been a good truck.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

While reading these articles I find myself thinking that not everyone is born with common sense. If you drive a blazer LIKE a blazer instead of a sports car, you'll be bound to make the transmission, brakes, tires, and a lot of other things last longer. If you want a fast car, go buy one, don't think you're "BAD" just because you got an SUV. I bought my blazer in 99, I live in Missouri where the winters are pretty bad and the summers are pretty hot. The blazer does fine in either type. However, I also take care of it and have had no major problems through the years after 167,000 miles it still runs like my baby! I've had this thing since I was 18. Treat your car right and it will treat you right!!
