2000 Chevrolet Blazer LT 4.3 V6
Summary:
Great to drive, when it's working correctly
Faults:
Intake gasket failure at 137k miles, replaced myself for 35 bucks. Weekend project, but better than the $500+ the mechanic wanted.
Fuel pump at 149k miles. Started whining bad and losing fuel pressure. Replaced with ACDelco.
Suspension started wearing out at about 145k miles, under normal light duty use.
Rusting out on the passenger side, as well as the rear bumper. Frame is still solid though, as it has been bedlined for rust prevention.
Steering parts starting to wear out as of right now (idler arm, tie rod ends) as well as needing new shocks in the front.
Transmission starting to feel 'squishy', doesn't slip but is starting to get soft.
General Comments:
The Blazer is comfortable, especially on longer freeway trips. The 4.3 V6 has decent power, averages 20 MPG on the highway, but is a total gas hog in the city or with the 4WD engaged in the winter (where I see the MPG drop to as low as 12 MPG).
Lately it has been nickel and diming me to death. I replace one thing, and 2 things get added to my to-do list. Don't get me wrong, this Blazer has served its purpose, and I am very attached to it, but I don't recommend it to people who can't work on it themselves.
Overall, not a bad little truck. For the MPG it gets though, you might as well get a full size pickup. The 4WD is great, the power is so-so, and the reliability is so-so.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I'm only at 210,000 miles, but you see the similarity. '97 2wd four door.
