2000 Chevrolet Blazer 2000 LT 4x4 4.3L

Summary:

I would not recommend this car for anyone

Faults:

Had to replace the alternator.

Radiator fluid leaking into the engine.

Had to replace the radiator.

Fuel gauge was not accurate.

Door panels, and dash would rattle while going down the road.

The back windshield wiper sprayer would not work... the soap would leak through the back hatch and drip off my back bumber.

The rear end was about to go out of it. When I would take off it felt like there was marbles grinding in the transmission. One day it would not go in reverse. The transmission was about to go out. The head gaskets were messed up... not sure what was really wrong with it.

When the motor was hot nothing would leak out. when the motor would cool down the radiator fluid would leak around the motor.

The window buttons on the door panel would pop out all time.

The compass/temp. gauge decided not to work one day... then the next day it was fine.

General Comments:

This was my first car. When my dad found out that we had purchased a car that would give us nothing, but problems we decided to trade it in (Before it got worse) for a ford explorer (which I love) Every time my parents would save up money. They blazer had to be fixed. Every time. Over all it had pretty good pick up. It leaned really bad while taking a turn. I would feel like I was going to turn over. It road really smooth. I didn't have it long enough to try out the 4-wheel drive. I loved the two tone paint that it had. red with silver on the bottom. I didn't like that I had to put it in third gear to pull I trailer with it. I burned a half a tank of gas. I only went 30 miles. I will never own another blazer.

2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3L V6

Summary:

My Blazer is a lemon

Faults:

The transmission went out at 72,000 miles. We've had to replace the right front u-joints and balls.

I wish I would have read about the 2000 Blazer before I'd bought mine. My transmission also went out of my Blazer at around 72,000 miles. I emailed the Chevy company after reading all of the complaints that consumers had about the Blazer. I had to end up calling them, (1-800-222-1020). They said that the more complaints they get, the better it is to get a recall.

They also said to complain to the NHTSA either at their website (http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov) or by calling 1-888-327-4236. The more complaints they get about something that has went wrong... the more they will look at making a recall.

If you've had a problem, please contact either or both places.

General Comments:

For the most part I love my Blazer. I like the sunroof and the comfort. I am just really frustrated with the transmission going out. My last car.. which I still own, has 190,000 miles on it, and I've never had any problems with it.

2000 Chevrolet Blazer 6 cylinder

Summary:

LEMON

Faults:

Alternator, $350.

4 Wheel drive electrical connection- making 4 wheel drive jump in and out and locking from 2 wheel high to 4 wheel low. $350. Still occasionally tries to do this.

Power Steering, $440.

Transmission and torque converter, $2,700.

Front transfer case leak, $120.

General Comments:

This vehicle is having way too many problems for a 5 year old car with only 36,000 miles. It has always been well maintained and garaged. What is the trouble with Chevrolet?? I will probably never own another one.

I have owned Blazer, Tahoe's & Suburbans for 30 years and they have been great vehicles to me. It's disapointing to me that Chevy's quality is not more consistent so that others can experience the tough trucks that I have.

Maybe it was in an accident? Get the VIN, and run it through the Carfax website.
