2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3

Summary:

This car is crap as far as I'm concerned and from what I've read!

Faults:

I bought my 2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4x4 in 2001 brand new.

At 40,000 miles the first front wheel bearing went bad.

Also at 40,000 miles the fuel pump went out.

At 50,000 miles the same bearing went bad again.

At 68,000 miles the other side has gone bad.

Also, when I first bought it, they had to fix:

Leaky oil lines at the filter.

Rattle caused by the hood.

Rear shock.

Oh ya, I think if I remember right, when I took it in for the first wheel bearing replacement they said the front ball joints were loose, surprise, surprise.

General Comments:

Other than that the car has been o.k.

It sure is frustrating having to put all this money into it with so few miles on it.

Hopefully Chevrolet will remember who is paying the bills.

If anyone has more info on this or recourse, please respond.

I couldn't agree more with you. We have had nothing, but problems.

At 40,000 miles the car needed a brand new transmission.

We have replaced just about everything in this vehicle including radiator, water pump, thermostat, etc. We recently had an electrical problem.

And the biggest issue of all... our engine is dead at 65,000 miles. We have antifreeze in the oil line and our extended warranty company does not want to replace the engine. We only bought the vehicle three years ago and we are still paying on it. It has been a week since the blazer stranded my fiance on a very busy highway. This was one day after we got the vehicle back from being serviced. This car has been our worst nightmare and there is no end in sight.

I have filed a formal complaint with GM. They sent me a very nice e-mail and said they would like to help. I called the representative who contacted me and they don't get back to you in 24 hours like they promise. Not sure what to do at this point.

I also purchased a 2000 Chevy Blazer about 3 years ago. A few months ago I noticed that the fuel gauge was not working correctly and have since been very lucky as I have not ran out of gas. The 'Low Fuel' Light does flash at the very last minute (thank goodness). Recently I have noticed a very loud whining coming from my front end. Of course these problems came to light within a couple of months of my warranty expiring. Slightly frustrated seeing as how this vehicle is still considered 'Low Mileage'.

2000 Chevrolet Blazer 4.3L

Faults:

Front brakes locking, turned out to be a passenger side wheel bearing needed to be replaced.

No heat, water pump went and a vacuum connector under the dash.

Back brakes replaced when I bought the Blazer in August 2003, they were replaced again plus the calipers the following August because they were seizing.

The fuel gauge did not work when I got the blazer I called the dealer where I bought it from and he told me to just keep it full. thanks.

The door bushing on the driver side has dropped through.

The drive pulley had to be replaced.

The power steering pump had to be replaced.

The driver side wheel bearing decided to go two months ago.

The u-joint needed to be replaced.

The differential seal needed to be replaced.

The driver side handle on the seat came off in my hand.

And now the clunking in the front is the lower ball joints.

General Comments:

This vehicle has cost me a fortune, I was looking for a reliable vehicle and ended up with this nightmare.

To be honest I think part of the problem is your expectations were set so high due to the fact that you were cuddled by your last car (a Honda Civic). You went from quite possibly the most reliable car on the road to a Chevrolet SUV. That is quite a large drop in quality and keep in mind you do have a fair bit of mileage on the Blazer. While I don't disagree with you for being upset with the issues you have had to deal with, I would just suggest that you keep things in perspective here.
