1970 Chevrolet C10 CST/10 350

Summary:

The best body style Chevy had for a truck

Faults:

Mild rust on rocker panels and some surface rust on the floor pans.

Right side exhaust came undone and hit the rear u-joint. Didn't cause any noticeable damage, but dented the muffler up.

Windshield seal leaks and drips water onto my leg while driving in the rain.

Didn't have a thermostat when I bought it. Someone had taken it out, so the heater never really blew any cold air.

A/C doesn't work.

General Comments:

It's a great truck. I had a 1969 once and always wanted another. I found this 1970 (they look a lot alike) and bought it.

Has a strong running 350, the turbo 350 tranny had been rebuilt about three years before I got it. It had also been repainted three years before I got it. Looks awesome!

Bought it sight unseen, picked it up and drove it 200 miles home at night in the rain... and it ran like a top. Now in the process of doing a mild restore.

1970 Chevrolet C10 halfton 350

Summary:

Excellent reliable vehicle

Faults:

I bought the truck to turn into a street rod 3 years ago. Since then I've gotten married and had two kids so the trucks only received minor work.

The engine was supposedly 'rebuilt' when I got it, but it was awful, stock heads had been swapped out for propane heads, but it didn't run on propane?

Battery died (stupid ignition key problem)

The odd bulb goes out and some of the guages don't work.

Not much else.

General Comments:

This thing has been solid for three years. I had the engine rebuilt to HP specs and so far that's it. Since figuring out the ignition switch it has never had a problem, never broken down and fires right up after sitting for months. I finally put HD springs in the rear to tow another truck home.

I've had plenty new and 'newer' cars and even build them as a hobby and have never have had a vehicle as reliable as this. Everything is solid (its all metal!!!)

Its only downfall now is its 7-10mpg on premium gas...

I know its kind of stupid rating a truck that's over 30 years old, but these are getting popular again, parts are readily ordered by catalogue. When buying you sort of take it as you see it, the rust around the edges is pretty much the worst of things.
