2004 Chevrolet C1500 Silverado 5.3
Summary:
This is one great truck!
Faults:
Nothing major has gone wrong with the truck yet. The shocks are junk from the factory. Other than that everything else has worked perfectly!
General Comments:
I am an ASE certified mechanic. I put on average 20,000 miles a year on my trucks, and overall this has been the best by far. It is awesome on gas, on average 19-20 mpg in town, and 23-24 mpg on the freeway. A lot of that has to do with the easy changes I have made to the truck, Cold air intake, Flowmaster exhaust, Super-chip programer, Electric fans. Other than that the truck is stock, single cab short bed. The only complaint I would have is the paint scratches pretty easily, the metallic blue, and the bed dents pretty easily. Truck has plenty of power, approx 340 after add ons. runs 14.712 @ 95.89 mph in the quarter mile. It will haul about anything, I put 3,100 pounds in the bed one time and drove it 40 miles, the drive train had no problem, but the suspension was a little over loaded. I pulled a 20ft car trailer with 6 quads and 55 gallons of fuel plus a bed full of camping gear 400 miles with no sweat at all, got about 16mpg. This is an all around awesome truck!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have 34000 miles on my 2004 Silverado and cannot get the gauge cluster recall done, as the mileage must exceed 70000 miles. I was sent the recall notice called and was told no. Seems I am penalized for low mileage on the odometer vs getting it replaced. It is an issue, yet I guess it's not happening in my case

I have an 05 Silverado 4x4 until I dropped the tires down from a 315 to a 285 my truck drank gas 1/2 tank to go 66 miles. But I'm not too displeased. It is summer and the big tires are off till winter. Now I make that same trip on a 1/4 of a tank. LOL.

I've got the same truck. I get the same gas mileage as the original poster, without putting all the aftermarket stuff on the truck. All stock.
