1985 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe 2.8L V6
Summary:
Fun, but can be a pain
Faults:
Everything.
But car didn't run when I got it, so I was expecting problems.
Replaced:
- Head gaskets
- Throttle position sensor
- Exhaust manifold
- EGR valve
- Transmission mount
- Most of the vacuum lines
- Driver's seat belt
Things that never worked:
- Fuel gauge
- Tripometer
- AC system
- Right turn signal
- The rest of the seat belts
Things that broke and were never fixed:
- Ignition switch (key broke off, then wouldn't go to start position, so I installed a push button start)
- Clutch safety switch (bypassed it)
- Evap system.
After some of the injectors started to leak and it wouldn't idle right, I gave up on the 2.8 and dropped in a 4.3L from a 00 Blazer I rolled, but now it has transmission issues that I hope to fix soon.
Only real issues with fit and finish are the hood and doors, but I've been around other 3rd gens that didn't have the issues, so I think it's just mine.
General Comments:
Handles great and fun to drive.
Back seats were worthless, so I took them out early on.
Lots of rattles, which I can't seem to find, and all I have in the interior are the front seats and center console.
At 100 mph, the steering was top light, felt like the front end was lifting. I do have a spoiler on the back, but it needs an air dam in the front.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

So am I to understand that you were driving a 25 year old car (one that has over 150,000 miles on it) at 100 mph?
At the very least I hope that this was on a track.
(If you were doing this on a public road, please stop at the nearest police station and ask them to shred your driver's license. Then WALK home)
