2000 Chevrolet Camaro SS 5.7

Pure power

Faults:

My Chevrolet Camaro super sport has a very bad t-top leak that runs down behind the speaker covers on both sides.

And also when I try to shift to fifth gear it grinds. The car only has 18,900 miles on it.

General Comments:

This is a true American sports car.

Please help me make it perfect if you have my solution to either problem.

2000 Chevrolet Camaro SS 5.7 LT1 V8

Summary:

Fast, flashy, and almost practical!

Faults:

Front rotors needed turning at about 20000 miles.

Water leak in the T-tops (fixed by realigning door)

The remote hatch release doesn't always release completely.

General Comments:

More power than I'll ever need. This car is seriously fast, and very responsive at any speed.

Huge amount of torque makes it hard to launch into traffic without wheel spin, even with the automatic. Electronic Traction control helps, especially when the back end tries to get sideways.

Decent gas mileage considering performance.

Handles very well, but it's too big and wide to feel nimble.

Optional leather really dresses up otherwise plain interior. Back seat is more useful than I expected, and the front buckets are great.

Booms and shakes over broken pavement, but rides surprisingly well on most surfaces. T-tops creak and rattle a little on bad pavement.

Summary:

The most power per dollar you can get in America

Faults:

The 6 speed transmission has needed a service for bad gear alignment more than once. Each time it requires a rebuild because the shift rails get bent.

General Comments:

This car is not for the faint of heart. It goes like a bat out of hell, corners reasonably well (for 3500lbs) and stops on a dime. Swapping out the OEM Eagle RS-A's for Bridgestone Potenza RE730's has shaved seconds off my autocross lap times.

Faults:

Everything went wrong on this crappy car, so I gave it back to the dealer. My Mustang GT is faster than this and it is a 4.6 liter.

This guy was unlucky in the vehicle delivered to him, that is unfortunate. I too own both a GT and a Z28, stock GT can't touch a Z28 in performance, only comfort of ride due to the suspension in the Mustang.

Comfort is even better for us tall people (I'm 6'2" ) in the Camaro. Power goes to the LS1.... has been proven on the track, street, and on your local road course. Magazines also have proven it.

So you must be a Ford fan, or maybe you got a lemon.
