General Comments:

This is my first and current car. I have put several thousand miles on it since it was passed down to me from my sister.

Pros: Roomy- The RS wagon has an abundance of room and is great for hauling around my musical equipment.

Reliable- Nothing has gone wrong with the car to date and it runs just as smoothly as the day my sister received it.

Gas Mileage- Averages 25 mpg. A full tank will last me 7-8 days if I'm not particularly busy.

Visibility- No blind spots whatsoever. As my mom puts it, "It's like driving a fish tank."

Cons: Engine/Acceleration- With a 85 HP 4 cylinder, this car gets left behind. Getting onto the highway can be downright scary when you're doing 40 at the bottom of the entrance ramp...

AC- Weak at best. Takes forever to cool down and it sucks what little power this car had to begin with.

Faults:

The alternator broke, so I had to get a new one.

A few days after that, the altenator belt collasped.

Mechanics fixed the belt, then a few days later it collasped again.

A mechanic told me that the altenator system is faulty.

The car had a tendency to die at any moment. One time the car would shut off and die whenever I used the brakes. I got the car jumped and running again from a friendly driver, then the car died again when I used the brakes. Luckily, a police officer was there to assist this time.

Car made a squeaky noise whenever I would start it up.

Tires would squeal in over steer.

Really bad gas mileage.

Steering wheel is way to thin and hard to hold on to.

Car came with a AM/FM radio, but no tape or CD player.

Air conditioning system went out at 100K.

No light for trunk, which means at night time you don't know what you are doing.

No airbags.

Seat belt would lock up at the slightest stops, sometimes while driving down the road.

General Comments:

Not much mileage on car for a 86 model.

Nice interior.

Leather seats.

Handles very well.

Body design is nice looking.

Affordable price at $500.

Faults:

I had to replace the power Steering Pump.

I had to install a new seat belt on the passenger side.

I had to get a front wheel alignment.

I had to replace the ball joints.

General Comments:

All of the repairs I have made were all the repairs I had to make in order to put the car on the road.

Good on gas.

Comfy with lots of leg and head room inside.

The only complaint I have about this car is that it burns oil like a siv.

Faults:

Needed a new computer at about 200,000.

A water pump at 100,000 and 210,000.

General Comments:

A hand me down from my father this cavalier wouldn't die. I mean it! I drove that thing tens of thousands of miles without an oil change, no water and let the brakes wear through.

I learned about maintenance on this car, and trust me it was an experience. I messed up many times. It did need a new computer at about 200,000 miles. Might have been just shy of it.

The only reason I even got rid of the car was because my girlfriend thought it was too ghetto; she thought it was unsafe when I sawed the catalytic out and didn't replace it. (nag nag nag). So over all the only problems this car had were ones that I created. (stop laughing) Not many cars make it to 269,000. As of just a month ago (6/03) my uncle was still driving it. Should be hitting about 300,000 soon.
