2001 Chevrolet Cavalier Base 2.2L
Summary:
It got me to where I needed to go, but a nightmare of problems
Faults:
Lots of highway noise heard in the interior.
Transmission started slipping.
CV joints.
Ball joints.
Did not idle properly.
Power steering pump failed.
E brake will not hold.
General Comments:
This car always got me were I needed to go, however I had to keep constant maintenance on it.
Put simply, sensors would fail, causing check engine lights; I would replace the failed sensor, and the check engine light would stay on for two months and then go away.
Chevy used some extremely cheap plastic interior panels that rattle, and the connectors and fasteners are fragile; they break every time I touched them.
Getting to the oil filter is a real pain as well.
The 2.2 L OHV is one of the worst engines ever made. Even driving around town or passing on the highway, is a struggle for it.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Actually I don't think the interior is bad. I had a '94, and every piece of plastic inside cracked and broke. All the armrests split open.
Now I have a 2000 with 135,000, and the interior is very solid and seemingly well-assembled. A 100% improvement in quality as far as I'm concerned.
