1991 Chevrolet Corsica LT 3.1 FI

Summary:

Highly reliable cheap family vehicle

Faults:

In my time of owning this car the only problems I have had with it is the Battery, Alternator, and Muffler. All of which were replaced at about 140,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car is really strong! I was told this car would last a year for me and it has lasted four for me as of today and over 150,000 miles in distance! My car is still running strong and I would gladly get another one after this one finally retires. I have no complaints at all with this car.

1991 Chevrolet Corsica LT 2.2

Summary:

Crash Tested

Faults:

Front end collapsed when someone turned in front of me at 40mph.

General Comments:

Air bag saved me, scrapes and bruises on right arm. This car is a little heavier than you would think, it pushed a Gran Prix out of the way. I would buy another one if I could find one paint would stick to.

1991 Chevrolet Corsica LT 3.1 MFI

Summary:

A wolf in sheep's clothing..

Faults:

The baffles in the muffler went... the stainless steel kept the rest of the system intact.

The alternator seems to be inadequate, and may need replacing soon.

General Comments:

This car peforms surprisingly well for the price, and has all of the amenities you could want.

This is not really a great handling car, but is a good/great highway and commuter car.

1991 Chevrolet Corsica LT 3.1 Multiport

Summary:

A nice, low dollar bargain

Faults:

I had to replace the rear brakes.

Fuel guage fluctuates and is very unreliable.

Heater core leaked.

Peeling paint.

General Comments:

I had read in a review that the heater core was next to impossible to get to and replace. I approached this task with a calm attitude because it is somewhat difficult to access. However, I was able to remove the old and install the new in about 50 minutes. So my suggestion is to not get frustrated and stay calm and think clearly (I know this is sometimes difficult when working on cars - I have had my moments) you too will have it done in a snap.

The seats are somewhat low, but you do get used to it and I find the interior to be overall very well designed and comfortable.

1991 Chevrolet Corsica LX 2.2 Liter

Summary:

Is "Pimp-able" and can take a beating.

Faults:

The original blower motor failed a month after I got it.

The head gasket blew at 155,000 miles.

Much of the interior started to wear badly, but not the seats.

Both the doors on the driver's side of the car are defective.

General Comments:

I can say that I have beaten this car for about 8,000 miles. For what I have done to it, it still runs pretty good. I have attempted to drag any car off the line. I have yet to win. It is an overall slow car due to its 2.2 liter four cylinder motor.

However, it is a very comfortable car. The fuzzy blue seat covers are the best. It rides very smooth.

I have had my mechanic modify the old, ugly Corsica, into a new, nice looking Corsica. The black trim on the car was taken off and the whole car was painted the original light blue color. The only black left on the car is the runners on the bottom of the sides of the car. Add a bra, and you have got yourself a sporty little beast.

I have a 300 watt stereo system with a Pioneer deck in my car. It sounds really nice from the inside. The only downfall of the car is that the trunk rattles horribly when the volume is cranked.

This is a cool car.

To the reviewer- do you mean Corsica "LT"? LX is a trim line Ford has used frequently, but the Corsica is a GM product. And to the best of my knowledge, there never was a Corsica LX.

1991 Chevrolet Corsica LT 2.2 TBI I-4

Summary:

Takes the abuse of a young male teenager!

Faults:

I have had to replace the alternator, muffler, battery, accessory belt, and accessory belt tensioner.

General Comments:

This was my first car. My father drives it while I am in Orlando for school. I found this car to be very reliable, given it's age and mileage. I have taken this car on many long road trips, and found it to be slow, yet comfortable. The cruise control came in handy, as well as it's cup holders. The 4 cylinder got great gas mileage, averaging 32 on the highway, and 25 in the city. This is an excellent car for anyone who wants cheap, yet excellent transportation. Two thumbs up!
