Faults:

Not much apart from wearables, and minor things given the distance traveled.

General Comments:

An excellent purchase! My odometer today reads 270 000 km, and my 4 cylinder Corsica just won't stop! When you get to higher odometer readings, adding on kilometers becomes fun.

I have babied the car and it serves me well. I have kept it outside for the last three years and having done the rustproof once a year you'd be hard-pressed to find any trace of rust. The Corsica is reliable beyond expectations. I can't say enough good things about the reliability of this car. (My next purchase will be an Acura sport coupe, I know, again, I will not be disappointed.)

WHAT CEZAR SAYS: As a domestic vehicle the Corsica will be a good purchase for someone looking to buy a reliable car at a low price, provided it has been well taken care of. If over 200 000 k make sure to get high mileage oil like valvoline etc., it helps a lot.

PROS: Above average reliability, relatively quiet ride at 175 km/h.

CONS: Manual transmission not available, no cruise control on the 4 cylinder model.

Faults:

Replaced the alternator.

Seat fabric is faded, brittle, and splitting.

Console is faded and stained.

Paint above the driver's door is chipped and peeled slightly.

Electric locks require several attempts to lock the passenger door.

Windows rattle when partially down.

Transmission performs poorly around 30 MPH (the speed limit in our neighborhood).

Torque drops way down around 45 MPH when accelerating to merge on the freeway.

Gas gauge is totally inaccurate at lower than 3/8 tank and never reaches the 'empty' mark.

Gas tank drain plug is leaking badly.

General Comments:

Despite the 'problems', this has been a really solid car. We've driven it on MANY long trips and been very happy with the comfort, ride, and fuel economy.

We've had zero significant maintenance bills (I replaced the alternator myself; and the battery was covered by warranty); so we've saved a bundle of cash so far. It's starting to need some parts replaced; but the cost will be pretty minor compared to costs friends have paid. Much lower than purchasing a new car, too.

Faults:

Blew one tire, my personal fault from using the Jake brake.

Gas cap rotted off, but seems to be a problem with ALL Corsica's, not just mine.

Paint is peeling, but also it was not done very well in the first place.

Runs on about a little over 1/4 temp all the time, from 2 minutes after starting.

General Comments:

Power like I wouldn't believe in a sedan. I raced a 1993 Pathfinder through back roads and lost him in my dust (paved road driving).

Handles really well, avoided many animals jumping in front of me driving at high speeds. Great handling.

Alignment seems to be off slightly.

Faults:

The paint has absolutely fallen off this car in sheets. This started at the end of the warranty period and GM basically said "too bad".

The main computer failed at 84,000 kms. The interior has faded and cracked. The steering wheel is cracked and faded as well.

The gas cap cover has rusted and fallen off somewhere (as have most we have seen).

The doors freeze shut each winter and nothing seems to help.

Rattles, squeaks, bad brakes, whining steering, leaks of oil and power steering fluid, overheating, failed air conditioner and bad alignment.

General Comments:

An automotive tragedy of the greatest magnitude. When compared with older cars this car is much worse than most. I tried to love this car and GM... but our next car is a VW.
