2014 Chevrolet Cruze 1.4 turbo
Summary:
Fuel efficient peppy car
Faults:
Hesitation on acceleration 2x.
General Comments:
I have been very impressed with the car so far. The 1.4 liter engine is very peppy and gets impressive gas mileage. I have been getting around 30 MPG in town and 40 MPG on the freeway.
The car is very quiet, even on the freeway, and the basic sound system is very good.
The front windows will go all the way up or down with one push of the window lever, which I like.
It came with Firestone tires, which appear to be very good quality.
Shifting is smooth with the short shifter, although I don't know if it really needs a 6 speed, as I skip gears at times when accelerating.
Handling is tight and the car responds well through corners.
The brakes are adequate, although I was disappointed to have rear drums instead of discs.
I really like having automatic headlights, as I don't have to worry about turning them on or off.
The negatives I have with the Cruze are the common complaint of no trunk button in the car. One has to use the key fob or push the button under the trunk lid.
The back seats are very uncomfortable according to people who have sat back there, so don't plan on driving a long distance without rear passenger complaints.
It has lost power twice when I was accelerating, which is somewhat disconcerting. Once on a hill and another time on a level street. It may have been bad gas, but just a guess on my part. I usually use premium.
The car also has high pitched buzzing noise from the front of engine at random times after I turn off the car. I tried asking 3 different Chev dealerships what might be causing it, and they always tell me to bring the car in to them, even though it probably won't do it when I take it to the repair department. Other people with Cruzes have talked about this online with no answer.
So the main question now is how well will the car hold up over time? We will see.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have had this car now for over 2 years and it has 25,000 miles on it. So far, so good.
