2004 Chevrolet Impala

Summary:

Nice, but???

Faults:

Well it started with the steering making a noise. It went into the shop, where they said there was nothing wrong, but there is.

Took out the whole steering column and replaced a ring in the fire wall. Now there is something else going on with the front end, either in the steering column again, or with the gas pedal.

Need a solution or someone to tell me what's going on.

General Comments:

I like the car, it's very nice to drive, but it's getting nerve racking trying to find out about the noises.

I have an '05 Impala, and I also have the thumping in my pedals when accelerating/braking and when turning at low speeds. Chances are it is a problem with the steering shaft. It's still under warranty, so I'm going to get it fixed this week.

2004 Chevrolet Impala V6

Summary:

Where do I get in line for returns?

Faults:

This car is a falling apart piece of junk. The seats are ugly to look at, and hideous to sit on. It only takes about 5 minutes to realize that sitting on the floor might be more comfortable.

The headlights: ummmmmm, there are headlights? I just drive with my high beams on at night, because the low beams feel like no beams at all. This problem should be fixed! I actually had to pull over and walk in front of the car to make sure that the headlights were really on. Even while using the high beams, I still wish for more visibility.

When pulling in/out of anywhere that has a slight inkling of a bump or dip, the front of the car scrapes loudly on the ground. It almost feels like it will hit the ground if I apply the brakes too hard.

The doors: Well, they hit you where the good lord split you, if you're not careful! This is because they spring open or closed so swiftly, they are hard to control. When I open the door, to reach into the car for something, the door will spring shut, almost knocking me into the car! Beware, anyone parking next to an Impala will definitely receive a significant door ding! Inside, the door panels are rattling, and very loose. The door lock controls are placed awkwardly.

The front of the car: the grille and bumper are so cheaply made, if you look at them wrong, they will fall off. The grille just kind of dangles there, because it keeps coming un-snapped.

The trunk: when the lid is open, it is a good amount of space. When shutting the trunk, it must be slammed with all of my might, or else it will not latch.

Steering: When going straight and accelerating, the car pulls quite hard to the left. I end up swerving around trying to stay straight.

General Comments:

The car looks best when you are enjoying a ride in a good quality car like a Toyota, looking out of the window at an Impala. That is to say, there is no pleasure in being in this car, it is just for looks.

Didn't all these "problems" exist when you bought it?

I just drove a 2006 Impala last week as a rental, and wow, was I ever impressed! It had all the bells and whistles such as heated, leather seats and nice trim level. Have to admit that I always scoffed at heated seats, but it was awfully nice when the mornings were in the teens. Must have also had the "drive by wire" steering because it didn't have that usual front-wheel-drive steering wheel shake. It was the smoothest, quietest car I've driven in 30 years!

2004 Chevrolet Impala LS 3.8 Series II

Summary:

I totally adore my Chevrolet Impala LS

Faults:

The factory stereo was not clean enough at load volumes, I replaced it with a Pioneer deck.

General Comments:

I owned an Accord and I loved it. I drove it from Texas to California and it was a great drive. With that said, I have to tell you that my 2004 Chevrolet Impala LS blows it away! It is my dream car and I truly adore it. I won't let it stay dirty past the next rain free day. The ride is smooth and effortless. The comfort is good though I'd like a little more thigh support from the powered driver's seat. Mine is Sandstone Metallic with Neutral interior, and it is the prettiest and most handsome car I have ever owned. Do you own a car that beckons you to drive it, even with gas prices going up every day? I do, and when my Impala calls me to take it out and drive, I'm right there.

Impala is an excellent car; I have owned a 2000 model and it was very reliable. I am considering buying a 2005 model since I enjoyed it so much!

GO IMPALA!

I enjoyed the review! And I recently purchased an 03 Impala..Black..And I absolutely love it! Before it I had an 02 Pontiac Grand Am Gt.. And it was trouble.. So traded it off and got the best car I've ever owned! I've had mine a little over 5 months and it only prob I've had out of it was the Catalytic Converter, Which I hear is common for those type on cars where they are long! But over all I love it & wouldn't even think about getting a different kind of car!! :)
