1990 Chevrolet Lumina Euro 3.1 L

Summary:

A good purchase

Faults:

The only problem I have had was with the power windows coming off of the tracks.

General Comments:

I have only had this car for about three and a half months, but it seems to be a nice car.

This car handles the road awesome, and it has some good power to it.

I have not experienced any other problems with this car since I bought it.

1990 Chevrolet Lumina Euro 3.1

Summary:

It's a pretty quick grocery getter!

Faults:

Alt. water pump, fuel injectors, rear brakes, transmission and speedometer.

General Comments:

I have owned this car for four years now and have recently paid it off. I have had a multitude of problems with this car, but for all intents and purposes it has been a damn good car. When a GM 3.1 transmission lasts 160,000 miles before needing to be replaced, you know something must be right.

My car is at 210,000 and I still haven't had to replace the engine.

I have had to replace the breaks, alternator, gasket...

I'm at 220,000, original tranny and engine, I LOVE THIS CAR!!! Interior still looks great too.

My Chevy Lumina is at 255555 no joke. The only things that needed replacing were the alternator and the brake pads. Shes a beast!!

I had a Lumina for 5 years and it served me well, but it's had it's share of problems. The front passenger window supports broke and it has trouble rolling up and down, and recently the tranny blew, but it only had 65K on it. Replaced alternator 3 years ago at 38K miles or so. I want to get it fixed, actually. Love that car, it has "guts"...for lack of a better word ;)

1990 Chevrolet Lumina 3.1L V-6

Summary:

Reliability issues, but very safe

Faults:

The Luminas seem to EAT alternators. I am on my fourth, luckily I bought the lifetime alternator warranty so it hasn't cost much. The alternators can be had for about $100 (for the lifetime warranty) and are a pain in the butt to replace.

The EGR valve is about $180 (aftermarket) and fails about 85k miles.

I haven't had the brake problems that others seem to, but I don't have ABS so maybe that's it.

The best thing about this car is the safety, I hit a pick-up (full size) on a slippery road at about 35mph and didn't get a scratch. That alone has got to be worth something.

1990 Chevrolet Lumina Euro 3.1 L

Faults:

Computer, gas tank, rear brakes of course, water pump, alt, windows off tracks.

General Comments:

Generally, a good car. Noisy engine at higher RPM's. Front end shakey. Seats are comfortable. Body good. Excellent transmission. Good handling. Only had to do brakes once in 4 yrs. Use the parking brake and the rear calipers won't seize up. Keep them lubed.
