1998 Chevrolet Malibu LS
Summary:
Very overrated, I will never purchase GM again!
Faults:
Seats had problems and wouldn't recline as they should, had to be replaced twice.
Radio went several times, there was a cable that had to be replaced.
Control arms needed replacing on 2 occasions.
Headlamps had excess moisture in them.
Brakes had to be replaced four times, the first time was at 7,000 miles!
Rotors had to be turned 4 times.
New rotors after the 4th time turned.
Alternator went at 60,000.
Emissions light stays on all the time.
Seatbelt is inserted on driver's side and as you are driving becomes disengaged leaving you not wearing a seatbelt.
Electrical problem with taillight circuit board.
ABS light has decided to make an appearance so I guess this will be the next item on the list to be repaired.
General Comments:
I phoned General Motor's customer service when I began having problems with the vehicle, at 7,000 miles. I was very unhappy with the vehicle at that point and time. When I phoned I got called a nasty name and had the customer service rep hang up the phone on me. This call, of course, was not documented!
I loved the look and feel of the car when I purchased it. It was General Motor's motortrend car of the year, it must be a great car, or so I thought.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

STOP!!!
DO NOT BUY ANY CHRYSLER VEHICLE!!! You will regret it.
Tell your company to switch to either Cavaliers or Impalas would be better. I've had experience in those vehicles. They are a dream and the only repairs you will do on them is just maintenance such as oil changes, filters, brake pads etc.
READ the reviews on Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Voyagers, and then the Chevy Impalas and Cavalier. You'll notice a big difference.
Trust me, you won't regret it!!
