2000 Chevrolet Malibu LS 3.1
Summary:
Chevrolet would have many repeat customers if the overall quality would improve
Faults:
The front disk brake pads replaced at 39,000 miles with rotors turned.
Replaced fuel tank module (70,000 miles) at a cost of $650.00.
General Comments:
This is my second Mailbu and will be my last. Previously owned a 1998 Malibu.
The Malibu is noisy at all road speeds.
The brakes are poorly engineered and one should not have to replace at 39,000 miles when all driving is freeway useage.
Replaced the fuel pump module at (70,000 miles) a cost of $650.00 for parts and labor. The over the counter price for the module and required gasket is $393.00 which is just plain highway robbery.
The check engine light just came on at 70,000 miles and bracing myself for another high cost repair.
Replace the first set of Firestone tires at 43,000 miles. I made the mistake of purchasing another set of same brand. Would recommend to anyone to replace with a set of Michelins and live with the higher road noise.
The highway mileage is very good at 31 MPG and the engine is very snappy.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No
