2001 Chevrolet Malibu LS 3.0

Faults:

ABS light on at 23000 miles... fixed and again has come on, same sensor replaced twice... now has been on for 50000 miles and I'm not fixing it.

Blower only works on 2 speeds... water pump replaced.. brakes in the front approx every 20000 miles.. I drive all highway miles, 200 a day..

And most recently I cannot start the car.. it cranks, but won't start.. towed to the dealer.. needs an ignition cylinder?... OK for 410.00, I'll see..

I am also having problem with the car not starting. It's been towed in twice for cranking, but not starting in a six week period of time. Someone told me to have them look at the car's computer for a faulty part there.

Brakes do have to be replaced often due to material they are made with. They are strong brakes, but do wear down quicker than other brake types causing more frequent replacement.

The car rides and drives nice. We've taken several longer trips (six plus hours) in this car successfully and comfortably.

I also have had problems with the Malibu not starting. I have a solution try this. Get in your car turn the key to AC. leave there for 12 minutes turn the key off and then start your car. Make sure you wait the 12 minutes or this will not work. It is a problem with the anti-theft device on the car. If you play with or do something that makes the car thing its being stolen it will not start. I cannot touch the radio after its off or right before I turn it off. And if you hit the gear shift to hard or bump the key.

2001 Chevrolet Malibu 3.1

Summary:

Very reliable car

Faults:

Only one problem, front brakes replaced 5 times and rotors replaced 3 times. If you take care of the car and do the tune ups, there is no problem.

I commute 120 miles a day round trip, and I love this car.

General Comments:

A real work horse, in dry weather, wind, rain, or snow.

That would be easy, but it looks that most cars are built in Mexico or Canada for Ford and General Motors. At least the Honda's are built in the Ohio countryside and now Indiana (2008) ; and Toyota's are sprouting from Kentucky's countrysides. Sorry, but in todays marketplace, your product could be built just about anywhere... I spouse I can give you some credit your Malibu was built in America..

How are do the two above comments relate in any fashion to the value and reliability of the Malibu?

2001 Chevrolet Malibu

Faults:

When I bought the car I smelled acid, dealership found out the battery was leaking acid. The temp gauge always go to the last white mark before going into the danger area (red), I was told that I had to run the AC or fan all times while in the vehicle.

I went out one evening and the car was dead no power what so ever. Now I had no lights on the back everything went out. I changed all the bulbs, but still have no brake lights. There is a funny noise in the steering wheel I got it to the dealership and they said they couldn't find anything, needless to say it is still there. I have also had trouble with the brakes, you are at the stop light with your foot on the brake petal and the car still rolls. Just so so many problem- I will not own a GM again problems.

General Comments:

Car is slow and hesitants constantly, carpets wore out before 2 years old.
