1992 Chevrolet Metro 1.1
Summary:
I loved this car and it served me well
Faults:
Although I am not a hard driver, it did seem like I had to do brake work a little more often than I'd like.
General Comments:
This car served me beautifully for 12 plus years. I never had the engine open beyond replacing timing belts. It was a consistent runner with routine mileage of 47 mpg. On a longer road trip I could get 55 mpg.
This car was easier to get into and out of than a Crown Victoria supplied for a couple years by my employer.
While the Metro allows a bit more road noise into the cabin, it was still a pleasant enough drive. I never felt left behind on the highway as long as I was content to not pass everything else on the road.
Even when I finally retired it at 216000 miles, I was getting 43 mpg and using no oil. It was retired because it finally needed a set of bearings, exhaust system, tires, plus some body work after hitting a deer. Unfortunately with all that the car was worth almost as much as the gas in the tank and I reluctantly drove it to its final resting place! I miss it.
By the way, all the MPG's are accurate. I kept a logbook of every gallon and mile going in that car. For a basic little car, I loved it.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

LOL, I know how you feel.
Just a word of warning. Don't let your friends drive. I let a buddy drive my 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera and he managed to kill it. I think it's a head gasket that's blown, but I've ramped ditches, hit patches of black ice at around 80 MPH (not fun on the highway!), hit a truck with a lift kit that put a hole in the left rear bumper, and I have ramped it, so it's done pretty good for a $250 car, and now my play car is down, my normal car (2000 Ford Focus) won't start either :@ (I don't know what he did, but he did it hard in the Olds. Thank god he's paying for it }:@>
