Tie rods at 100,000.

General Comments:

I love this car. The cab is a bit small but it is usually just me in the car so it is not a problem. The catalytic converter has been going since I bought the car but I just drive it regardless because it is not too bad yet. I abuse that car and it still does not give me problems.

Since I have owned my S10, I have done regular maintenance like brakes, oil changes, and a battery. But other than that I just had a problem with the tie rods. The local auto parts store wanted sixty a piece, but I got them on a wholesale website for about eleven a piece. I did the repairs myself and saved a lot of money. This truck has never left me stranded or caused me any grief. I would recommend this car to anyone.

It also get amazing mileage since the truck is only a little four cylinder, or as I like to call it a sideways cavalier motor, it gets about 28 on the freeway and twenty one in the city. It is not meant for hauling. just because it has a hitch on the back doesn't you can put a trailer on it.

Faults:

Alternator 130000 miles - easy $100 fix.

Catalytic Converter 100,000 - Rattles hardcore but really doesn't affect anything.

Brake Line blew - 135000 - $170.

Nothing else other than maintenence such as plugs, wires, brakes, oil.

General Comments:

This is a great truck I have had hardly any problems with it.

I noticed the volts were dropping while I let out of the gas. It was accompanied by this humming. IT ended up being alternator.

MY catalytic converter rattles hardcore. I can have the music blaring and I can still hear it. It doesn't really affect any thing at all though.

Brakes blew one morning as soon as I turned it on. The pedal just went to the floor. It ended up being a pin hole leak behind a cross member.

Overall a great truck to drive and rely.

Faults:

A/c went out when purchased and bad flex pipe.

Oil pan gasket blew 4 months later.

Motor blew up 3 weeks later.

Needed a front end alignment.

Changed flex pipe 3 times never fixed.

General Comments:

This truck is easy on the eyes, but hard on the wallet.

I love the style, but starts to fall apart and is very underpowered. It don't get that great of mpg and I dread hills due to no power. The flex pipe sounds horrible when it goes out and is hard to replace since they all go bad. The handling isn't too bad its pretty accurate. There's not much acceleration in 3rd gear and shifts kinda hard.

Faults:

About 6 years ago, the dealer had to repair the throttle body as the vehicle ran radically, sporadically.

Also, one of the seat recliner levers broke; what's to be expected of cheap di-cast construction? For the most part, it has been a fairly decent small truck with inexpensive maintenance.

General Comments:

As far as comfort goes, the seats cannot recline in the standard cab as they hit the rear window.

The original exhaust system lasted 156,000+ miles and almost 9 years. Not bad. It cost over $500 to replace.

It has been running very flat (low power) and the new cat-converter glows red after only a couple of miles. I found a mouse nest under the air filter and cleaned it out, but it didn't correct the problem.

I replaced oxygen sensors, CKP sensor, both ignition coils, plugs and wires. The code reader cleared, but the problem persists.

Last hope lies in bad gas (the vehicle sat idle for months). May be in the dry gas which was methanol, the owners manual says "No-No" to this. I read it after the fact. A good truck, yet a dilemma. Sound familiar to anyone?
