2002 Chevrolet S-10 LS 4.3 Liter V6
Summary:
Great, simple truck with decent gas mileage and power
Faults:
3rd door sticks sometimes.
General Comments:
Awesome truck. Exactly what we needed it for.
We get 20 mpg driving through metro Phoenix everyday. The 6 cylinder has surprising power, even on the highway. The ride is smooth and actually feels like a truck (something we didn't like about the Frontier and Tacoma).
I haul stuff all over town and this is just the most perfect, simple truck. We have the LS with the extended cab, which is enough room to put groceries and such. It holds more than you would think in the bed, and can pull quite a bit as well.
When we were looking for trucks, it looked like the same year, same mileage foreign truck ran about $2000 dollars more. We just didn't like the feel of them, they felt more like cars. And I am biased when it comes to GM, since my dad worked there for 38 years. Each company puts effort into certain vehicles, and they used to put effort into these S-10's.
I don't know about the 5 cylinder engine in the Colorado's... but the 4.3 liter (which was also in my 85' Monte Carlo) has been a proven, reliable engine. I like how trans shifts and the suspension feels great. My dad drove his 94' s-10 over 200k miles, and we beat the crap out of it on country roads.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

The people that write in to these should know that every manufacturer and every car line going has problems that are common and sometimes not common. Vehicles are designed and built by humans and are not perfect.
