- Washer bottle began leaking. Replaced bottle and washer pump.

General Comments:

This is my second Silverado that I've owned. I was a bit reluctant to trade in my 2003 WT with how constant upgrades to technology in vehicles is making them more complex. But I needed a truck with an extended cab (or "double cab"), and my old one didn't have one. So after 262,000 miles, it was time for an upgrade. Chevy kept it simple with the 2016. If you're an advocate of the phrase "don't fix it if it ain't broken," then this is the truck for you. I have been very impressed with this truck so far. The "old school" 5.3L pushrod LS motor is almost exactly the same compared to my 2003. Easy to maintain, reliable, and provides excellent torque and power when you need it (355 HP, 389 ft lb torque), while sipping fuel when it seamlessly enters into V4 mode using its active fuel management technology. Fuel mileage for a full size pickup is also excellent in my opinion. I average around 14-15 mpg in city driving, and as high as 25 mpg on the highway with the cruise set between 70 and 72 mph. Once you start creeping above 75 mph, the fuel efficiency drops to around 21 or 22 mpg. At 80 mph, you're right around 20-21 mpg. But then again, if you are looking for something fuel efficient, don't buy a truck!

Towing power is excellent with its 5,000 pound payload, and 11,800 pound towing capacity. I've loaded this truck with a trailer and filling the bed to the point that the bump stops were about 1/2 inch away from maxing out, and the truck didn't struggle once (I try not to max it out if I can). Fuel mileage when towing of course takes a hit - around 12 mpg city driving, and about 18 mpg highway max. But then again, that's the best mileage my old 2003 ever reached!

Interior is comfortable and basic. The truck has the LT1 Convenience Package, which includes power driver seat, windows, mirror and locks, dual zone auto climate control, 8 inch MyLink touch screen with voice recognition (which compared to the Ford Sync is LIGHT YEARS easier to operate), backup camera (which is very useful when hooking up a trailer), and folding armrest. It's a simple truck with just a few bells and whistles, which is perfect for me. It does have the HID headlights and fog lights, which can be quite bright. However compared to standard halogen lights while driving at night in the rain, the headlights and fog lights illuminate the road very well.

If you're looking for a simple, straight forward pickup truck that you want to get the job done, the 2016 Silverado is for you. I can't say that I'm too thrilled that Chevy is going to aluminum bodies in 2019, but to each their own. Trucks aren't meant to be lightweight with quick 0-60 times. They are meant to get the job done. And this truck will do it.
