1987 Chevrolet Sprint Turbo 1.0L turbo
Summary:
Much, much better than expected
Faults:
Well, when I bought the car, a fuel line underneath was leaking, which made the fuel pressure low, and would cause it to stall out when you stepped on the gas.
The driver side has a broken bracket on the right side, so I have it rigged up with my toolbox until I can get a used seat, or have this one welded.
Smells bad, but that's because the guy I bought it off of took it to a lot of Grateful Dead concerts, and we all know what goes on there...
It needed a battery, and all the places around here wanted $60 for one, with the exchange. Wound up driving 25 miles to this old place my grandfather always went to, and got one for $20.
The clutch slips, but only under hard acceleration. Fine under normal driving. May only need to be adjusted.
General Comments:
With all the stuff above I am complaining about, I really can't, because I bought the car for $25.
It runs so GOOD! The car sat for 2 1/2 years, and when I finally got the fuel line fixed, and the battery replaced. I flicked the switch, it turned over 3 times, and fired. When it's warm, it will turn over once, and start.
Turbo is strong. Man, if the clutch didn't slip, this thing could outrun a Civic Si!
Bumpy ride, but what do you expect from a car that's basically a go-kart with windshield wipers, and a horn?
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
