1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 5.7L (350cid) EFI gasoline
Summary:
A great SUV experience.
Faults:
Was missing the rear cargo net at delivery. No other problems.
General Comments:
After I got rid of my last car, I leased one of these in 98 for a year to try it out. I wasn't a truck guy, but I won't own a front wheel drive vehicle. This basically left me with the choice of a vette or a truck.
Decided on the Tahoe. I loved it. Turned it in after the year was up I went right back and got the 99. I never had a single problem with it.
Ran flawless, got good fuel economy (for a truck) 16-21 mpg. Rides like a car, handles well, great off road. The 4 wheel drive system is amazing. I drove in a blizzard that everyone else was parked in the rest stops, including the semi trucks. It was solid and safe.
Good build quality, and fit and finish.
Good looks and styling.
I would buy another one in a 'heartbeat'.
I don't like the 2000-2005 models. Waiting for the new revamped 2007.
I highly recommend this truck to anyone.
NOTE: I am dubious of any review complaining of mechanical problems on this (or most) vehicles. Read your manual, follow the maintenance recommendations. change your fluids, wash the vehicle once a week, and it should do you well.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

A lot of the complaints in this review seem like nothing more than abuse and poor maintenance by the original owner. Hardly the truck's fault.
I am in a Tahoe club and maintenance issues are unheard of on properly maintained vehicles.
An automobile isn't a black box widget you buy, use, and keep forever. Plants need watered, houses need painted, and cars need maintained. That's just the nature of the beast.
Failure to do all routine maintenance is quite simply abuse.
So is failure to clean the vehicle.
That's my 2 cents.
