I love my Trailblazer

Clutch Fan.

General Comments:

My Trailblazer had just rolled over 38,003 miles when I started hearing a noise when cranking or turning off the engine off. Previously I had experienced hesitations when accelerating. Seven am the next morning I was at the dealership, at which time, I was told the truck was running fine and no one heard the noise except me. I explained that I was also having problems with the air conditioner and I was leaving to go out of state and would return five days later, they should keep it and find out what the problem is. Mid week, the dealership called. The clutch fan needed to be replaced. The comment from the dealership was, "this is a typical Trailblazer problem and I should be glad the truck was still under warranty". I was appalled to read the many reviews on multiple websites with the exact same issue. A recall absolutely needs to be done. I, for one, will be sending an email to GM. I love my Trailblazer and wouldn't trade it for too many other vehicles, but this is their responsibility and they need to take ownership for it.

I too have a 2004 Trailblazer EXT.

I recently had the dealership replace not only the fan clutch, but the water pump was about to disintegrate (Maintenance Tech's words) and the thermostat needed to be replaced at the tune of $1400+. The car only has 56,323 miles.

I bought the car brand new in 2004 and since then until now never had a problem. I must admit I love the vehicle, and a $1400 repair bill is not the reason I would get rid of it. I still believe I have many more carefree miles left on the vehicle, and $1400 is a small price to pay when you consider the cost of a new vehicle equipped as well as this is.

I would recommend an extended warranty.

The thermostat had to be replace at around 8,000 it was nothing major.

General Comments:

I love this car! It has great pickup, the cabin is roomy. All the controls are conveniently placed and easy to find. Its roomy and comfortable and overall it's a joy to drive. I have almost every option you can get on it aside from the 4x4 (now I wish I would have gotten it after driving it into a ditch during winter!) It has a lot of nice features and my favorite would have to be the Driver Information Center that lets me set features on the car as well as general information like MPG, or when scheduled maintenance is due.

I have had the car for 1 year and put almost 20,000 miles on it and I must say I can't see myself getting rid of this truck anytime soon

What part of the country are you from to even consider getting 2 wheel drive? My Trailblazer handles horribly in 2 wheel drive in most winter conditions. Before I changed from the factory tires I even used Auto 4 wheel drive when it rained. The tires made a big difference, but still, I don't see the point in just having 2 wheel drive on this type of vehicle.

The person who commented about the tires is 100% correct.

The stock tires, whether the are BFG's, GY's or whatever, are not well suited for this truck, esp. in 2 wd. Get better tires and watch the traction quotient go way up in almost all conditions.

I wrote the review and the tires are not to much of a problem, I ended up in a ditch due to my own negligence. No damage was done, but it was an inconvenience. I reside in Southeast Michigan and I would only require a 4x4 car maybe 3 times a year. Plus, every car I ever owned was a RWD. I would suggest 4x4 to anyone not comfortable driving in winter conditions, but the stock tires that come on the truck are not exactly "trail ready."

I have a 2005 Trailblazer with 45000 miles on it. I have not had any problems with it other than it does not handle well in rainy conditions. I won't even let anyone else drive it in the rain for fear they may get hurt. We have the second new set of tires on it in 2 months, but this did not fix the problem.
