1998 Chevrolet Venture LX 6 cylinder

Summary:

A comfortable, dependable yet economical friend!

Faults:

The windshield wipers have a bad design.

The front seats are hard and time consuming to put back.

General Comments:

This van gets wonderful mileage (25 mpg during regular use and closer to 30 mpg on long highway trips)

This van is extremely comfortable to ride in, with a smooth soothing ride. You can ride without lots of outside noise.

This van is great for family trips, my family of six has enough leg, head and arm room to relax and enjoy the ride.

This van has provided wonderful peace of mind, and never once in the 3 years I've owned it have I been disappointed in it's performance. I know this van will not leave me and my family stranded on the side of the road as we have in previous minivans. (not Chevy's)

1998 Chevrolet Venture 6 cylinder

Summary:

Excellent car for the money

Faults:

Second row passenger door was fixed at least 3 times under the warranty. Has been working fine since then.

Change tires every 35,000 miles.

Changed the brakes at around 50000 miles.

No other problems.

General Comments:

Strong car. I drove it to the airport with 7 persons on it and full of luggage and it handled like it could handle double the load without any problems.

1998 Chevrolet Venture LS 3.4V6

Summary:

My wife is very pleased with it, would buy another

Faults:

Rear door strap broke.

Driver side power window loose in track.

Front headlight lost cover - entire assembly needed replacement ($300)

General Comments:

Overall, Venture has been very reliable. Other than headlight noted above, no maintenance beyond required beyond routine items. At 100K miles, still has original exhaust. Optional rear seat captains chairs were well worth the money for our two teenage passengers.

Comfortable for long trips. Very convenient to remove fold or remove rear seats for hauling stuff home from the lumber yard.

I have a 1998 Venture. I love my van, but am starting to hate the repair bills. My headlight lens fell off and was not covered under the warranty. The cost to replace it was $300.00 so my husband bought a good silicone caulk and repaired it himself. The power window on the driver side broke. The dealership replaced it once, but it broke again 4 months later I got the bill for that one. Now the horn has stopped working. I am told by a dealership that it could cost in excess of $500.00! I'm sure I will not be buying another Venture.

1998 Chevrolet Venture

Summary:

This is a problematic vehicle

Faults:

Wiring Problem Under Passenger Seat:

Within a month of purchasing the van, the seat belt lights would not go out.

Service Engine Light:

Within a couple of months of that the service Engine light came on. Car starts overheating. Another wiring problem. Hundred of dollars to repair!

Service Engine Light:

Within a couple of months, light is on again for several hundred in repair.

Hatchback Door Won't Close:

Lever stuck, dealer repairs.

Remote clicker goes out.

Coolant Leak:

Take van on road trip - of course you guessed it. Coolant Low Light comes on. Repair costs $1,000!!!

Service Engine Light:

Take family on vacation to Florida one week after coolant problem that costs $1,000. Service Engine light comes on before we even get out of Michigan and stays on the whole way to Florida and back. Repair costs $300+.

Two months after that repair we park the van in the garage while we go on vacation for a week and when we pull van out of garage, interior lock/unlock buttons won't work. Wiring problem under the passenger seat. Repair costs $265 (including getting the remote clicker fixed). The car was parked in the garage for goodness sake!!

General Comments:

As you can see, this has been the worse vehicle I have ever owned as far as breaking down and costing me money.

The vehicle does not have that many miles on it to be breaking down so often.

We cannot go two months without some repair that costs hundreds of dollars.

I'm starting to hate this van!
