1998 Chrysler Concorde LXI 3.2
Summary:
Beautiful car, poor reliability, costly repairs - will never buy another Chrysler
Faults:
Air conditioning compressor failed during first 3 months of ownership which required replacement at significant cost ($1,000 total)
All four power windows have failed at different times ($350 each to repair)
Speed sensor in the automatic transmission failed causing the transmission to lock into second gear ($250 to repair)
Current AC is not working consistently. Sometimes it works great, other times it barely cools.
Front brake rotors are slightly warped and will eventually require replacement.
Poor reception with radio in canyon areas. Probably due to the antenna being in the rear window.
The CD player will not play home recorded Compact Disks.
The battery required replacement which was costly due to the fact the battery is buried under the airfilter and can only be accessed from under the car through an access panel in the fender well. ($70 for battery plus $80 labor to remove and replace.
Poor range on key-less remote. Need to be within 5 ft for it to work properly.
Gas springs for the trunk need replacement. Dealer has quoted $40 each ($80 total - does not include installation labor) for the two parts.
General Comments:
Things I like about the car:
Roomy and comfortable.
Attractive body style and color (have received numerous positive comments)
Great leather seats.
Good gas mileage on 87 octane gas (23 mpg around town, 29mpg highway.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No
