Faults:

I just found out that it was in an accident. Front left fender is plastic, while all others are metal.

General Comments:

I have just bought a 1994 Intrepid 3.3 L ES as my first car. I paid $800, and the only problem I have is at around 60km the steering wheel shutters badly, but not so badly that I cannot steer.

The car has only ever had the brakes done and engine oil replacements. And yes the trans oil is still from 1994. I have not had time to change it, but next week I will be doing so.

My buddy thinks it's the overdrive gear, but we're not sure, so if you have a idea, let me know, it would be well appreciated.

Faults:

Overall, the quality of the car has been excellent.

At 50,000 miles the inner tierod bushings had to be replaced.

At 75,000 miles new struts & mounts had to be replaced.

At 75,000 miles began having problems with instrument panel shorting out while driving. Dealer could not find the cause. Decided to do it myself and discovered that on the Intrepid model, water has a tendency to leak under the hood: (driver's side) right where relay box is located, causing corrosion in wires exiting relay box.

Had fuel rail leak, but repaired under recall along with transmission linkage.

Have had no further problems to date. The Intrepid ES is a car that must be serviced when due. Mopar products are highly reliable... if they are properly cared for. I am trying to understand why so many Intrepid owners are unhappy. Perhaps the previous owner dogged the car??

General Comments:

The Intrepid ES will get you there very fast and in comfort.

The correct transmission fluid must be used or slippage will occur. (Do not use Chrysler brand) Use Mopar.

Change the oil regularly and the engine will stay running like a racehorse. The Mopar 3.5 is one of the best high performance engines ever built... but you have to keep it that way by regular maintenance.

Faults:

First was a recall on the transmission right after I bought it at 100,000 KM, which took 2 days to have it repaired. From there I had to spend between $600-$700 dollars on the front end every 6-8 months due to alignment issues.

The AC failed about 5 years ago and wasn't worth repairing.

At 200,000KM the transmission started acting up again.. wouldn't shift out of 1st gear, so we ended up having to spend over $2,000 on modules that was a guess from the dealer.

We continued to have intermittent issues, and then the cluster gages would not start up when we turned the key. We took it back to the dealer again, and they said there was nothing they could do because it was too much time to track down a wiring problem. They said it could be the cluster switches.. @ $1000.00, but that may not solve the issue. I searched the Internet and several sites said to replace the ignition switch. I removed the old switch and installed a new one; "bingo", that issue was solved for $58.00.

Now the door locks won't work and one of the motor for the window quit.

I had a Toyota prior to that for 10 years with not 1 issue, and sold it for 1/4 of what I paid for it. This Intrepid is constantly breaking down and cost us may thousands in repairs.

General Comments:

This is a big roomy car and relatively good on fuel for its size, however be prepared to spend $$$
