1994 Chrysler New Yorker 3.6

Summary:

Very Good buy. Paid $2200.00 for a '94 in 2004 and worth every penny!!!

Faults:

Engine was replaced with a lower mileage engine (75,000) right before I bought it.

Had transmission sensors replaced last year, it would down shift while driving.

Air conditioning doesn't work.

Cup holders broke.

General Comments:

Great car. Nice ride. Roomy. Great stereo.

Im about 20 minutes from trying my luck on one of these cars. I will only be paying 1000 for mine but it is a steal everything perfect inside and out. trans was replaced a year ago with about 200k on it. so we will see how this goes seems like a reliable car though.

1994 Chrysler New Yorker 6.4

Summary:

Good big car ride

Faults:

I love this car. I have owned it for eight years. Comfort and ease of handling are wonderful. At the 100,000 mark some things needed to be done, but over all great sedan. Car runs well and gets about 26 mpg. Does not burn oil. No electronic problems to report.

General Comments:

Front tie rods needed replacing and balls joints.

ERG valve.

Timing belt.

I change the oil every 3,000.

Running Good Year Rigata presently and it is fine.

1994 Chrysler New Yorker 3.5 24 valve

Summary:

Best driving car I've ever owned

Faults:

Had water pump and crankshaft seals replaced at the time of purchase.

Rebuilt front suspension at 109,000 miles. $600 worth of parts. I understand this is common on high mileage LH series models.

Traction control is wonderful on the ice and snow in northern WI.

I have had no transmission problems and the car uses no oil.

Threw away the Goodyear Eagles - these were the worst tires I have ever seen and have replaced with General all seasons.

The car handles like a sports car, goes like a missile and rides great. Only complaint would be the air conditioning. Same complaints as most Chrysler owners.

General Comments:

Great ride.

I own a 1994 Chrysler New Yorker with approximately 135,000 miles on it. I went to the INTERNET to find information about the air conditioning system... it appears that many other folks have also experienced problems with the air condition. There was a recall on the Air Condition several years ago and although I wasn't experiencing any problems at that time I took the car in to the dealership.

Currently, I AM having problems. The unit works fine for approx. 45 - 60 miles and then it quits. I can leave it off for a while and then turn it back on and it works again. I thought maybe it was freezing up. I took it to a local (air condition/cooling) mechanic yesterday (not the dealership) and he let it run until it decided to "act up". He said it is not freezing up... the compressor is "kicking out" when it gets hot. He doesn't know what is causing this to happen. Is there anybody out there who has experienced this problem and knows what was done to correct it?
