You don't see a lot of the 1974-78 Chrysler Newport's on the road anymore, I'm a big fan of the luxury cruisers of the 60's and 70's and I still wish that they made cars this good today, last spring I saw a mid 70's (approximately a 1975 model) Chrysler Newport on sale for $800, the body was in good shape and it didn't have a lot of rust on it and the insides of the car was beautiful, at least that the mid 70's Newport's aren't as rare as the 1979-81 Newport's, my heart will always go to the classic beauties of the 60's/70's.

925 I get the same positive spin when I drive my even older Corvette. You should try it and enjoy them.

My parents had new Lincoln’s and even a couple of Newport’s. I found the mid 70s Newport far more comfortable than the Town Cars. Cushions were like a nice sofa with dual layers. I liked the lack of posts so it gave better visibility. We also had a 1970 that was one of the most reliable cars we ever had. V8, no smog or anti pollution devices. Garage kept cars. The Town Car wasn’t as maneuverable as the Newport’s. Both big. These were used to go from the Northeast and down to Florida for parts of the winters. Around a 1200 mile trip each way. Comfort and quiet ride more important than fuel woes. New they were great, but they depreciate hard over time. So I do not think owners later may have cared for them as well. Parked outside, the elements (sun, rain, winter ice and snow) take a toll. If you have a garage, these older cars can remain beautiful today. Nice to see them on the road. Others become a heap and head to the junkyard if not kept up.
