1996 Chrysler Sebring Convertible JXI
Summary:
I love it
Faults:
Brakes have been replaced. I call that minimal.
General Comments:
This is a 1996 Chrysler Sebring JXI.
I have the problem with the dash, but that's not a big deal. I have seen worse!
I replaced my brakes last year, and paid $45.00 for a battery (THIS REPLACED THE ORIGINAL, I BELIEVE).
So all in all, it's not that bad!
When I bought it from a used car sales lot; they took the car to the dealership, and had every recall that this car had on it fixed.
So I got lucky!!! I only drive it in the warm months, and store it in the winter. Drive a Cadillac in the winter.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

You are right about the Sebring. But the bigger issues with it are the weak transmissions. And also the electronic engine management system. These are unreliable cars. The design is nice, but it really is junk. The 2.7 engine on the 2001 and up is one of the worst engines ever designed. Many rebuilders will not warranty them. There are some things that can be done to improve some of the major issues. The factory should have done these things since the cost is dirt cheap. A $5 pin in the trans could save a case. A timing chain stop could save a whole engine in the 2.7 (cost $10). $500 an hour engineers made this junk. Unless you are a certified Chrysler mechanic, stay away from these cars.
