Very high performance reliability bargain
We had a small problem with water standing on floor after heavy rain.
This car has served us well for many years.
We definitely got our money's worth!
We have owned the car since 1996 and it's still running well at 244,000 miles!!!

Nice looks, poor performance
Oil pressure sensor replaced at 47,000 miles.
Oil pump replaced at 47,350 miles.
Transmission stuck in second gear 47,720 miles. Dealer reset the computer.
Transmission replaced at 48,150 miles.
Three fuel injectors replaced at 68,000 miles.
Whole fuel system and all the injectors replaced at 68,900 miles.
Dash board computer system (odometer and tachometer) comes on after fifteen minutes of driving and sometimes doesn't come on at all.
Cars rear floods from heavy rain.
Passenger seat sticks and doesn't move from it's position.
Car handles well, specially around turns.
However car has a lot of mechanical errors and lack of horse power.
Car also has a lot of blind spots when the tops up.

Nothing but Trouble
When I first had the brakes changed, the brakes were rusted to the wheels & needed to be hammered off. This should have been an indication of problems to come.
It being a cloth convertible, it has a drainage under carriage that soon became stopped with debri & flooded during a series of Thunder Storms.
Both the insurance company, dealership, and manufacturer denied knowing of any under carriage defect (i.e. the drainage holes are not big enough to allow for twigs & leaves to pass thru).
However, when having my car dried out & carpet replaced, I met an owner of a 1999 model that was going through the same problem from the same thunder storms.
My entire electrical system had to be replaced, along with brakes, carpet, leather seats. Needless to say, I have since disposed of the vehicle.
I will NEVER buy a Chrysler or Dodge ever again.
Beware of this vehicle - it's nothing but trouble if it ever rains where you live.
In addition to major problems, the windows leak whenever you open them during rain, and the leather seats crack easily if you do not treat them weekly.
Nothing but trouble, trouble, trouble.

Sporty, Many Positive Points
Tachometer and Odometer turn off if you hit a pothole -- which can be distracting.
ABS is either disconnected or faulty. I fixed it (or so I thought) but it went out again. The ABS light is constantly on.
The roof shudders on back roads. It is in need of constant tightening.
Very sporty convertible. Everyone thinks it is nearer to the year 2000 rather than a 1997.
The engine does not perform as expected on the hills of Pennsylvania. I would sacrifice the Turbo for a larger engine. Previous car had a 3.8L V6, so it was a step down in power.
Has had many recalls, which was an inconvenience, but all repairs have been done correctly.

A splendid mix of sophistication and performance
The oil gauge leaks oil around the seal. There is some sort of radiator fluid leak, which a mechanic stated it was an issue with the head. When temperature is below 60 degrees the check oil light comes on until the car is warm. The digital dash and Tachometer work intermittently.
I love my Sebring and will pass this car on to my children. My car came with the wider tires and recently I have changed to the slightly thinner tire. The performance in turns has been greatly diminished. I would recommend going for the wider tires if you really want the sports car feel. The acceleration of the 2.5 liter is acceptable, but a few more ponies would go a long way. The seats are extremely comfortable whether in the drivers seat or in the rear seat. I recommend the sporty feel of the older JXI or newer Limited over the LX.

I have a 1996 Sebring, Jxi, I believe, 2.5L V-6.
Oil pump failure and Dash board failure, sound like a repeat. It also has a tendency to blow the ignition fuse. Otherwise, my wife loves the car, and I would buy another, just on looks and ride alone. But I am still leary of the oil pressure and electronics.
