2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible GTC 2.7L

Summary:

Fun, good mileage (30+MPG) and a bargain when purchased used

Faults:

Struts holding trunk lid open had to be replaced.

General Comments:

Best feature is the 5 speed transmission... better acceleration and fuel economy.

Convertible top is tight, well insulated and works flawlessly.

Wish list of stuff not offered: locking glove box, heated leather seats with lumbar support, front seats with "return" position when you move them to let somebody sit in back seat, fog lights, daytime running lights, strut tower braces and about 50 more HP under the hood.

Better car than I thought it would be... concerned about reliability though. Since this car is basically a "stripper" should be less to go wrong.

2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible Limited

Summary:

A great first car convertible

Faults:

Nothing really, but when I was driving, I thought I could make a light, but I noticed I couldn't, so I slammed on the brakes and slid right into a little Kia.

General Comments:

Since I own a 2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible Limited, All I can say is wow!

Let me start with the exterior. I love the design of the front and back. As a midsized car, it's roomy on the interior. The dashboard is beautiful with its wooden trim and conveniently located items.

The car is very spacious. On long drives, the seats are comfortable and don't make you move around. I'm really impressed with the rear leg room. I looked at the Ford Mustang and it looked like not even a midget would fit in them. The Sebring can fit 4 full-sized adults and their luggage.

I really love this car.

2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible GTC 2.7

Summary:

You'll pay more and get less the newer the vehicle

Faults:

Transmission 3-4 shift was rough when the engine/transmission was cold .

General Comments:

This is the 3rd Sebring convertible I've had (98 JX, 00 JXI, 02 GTC). All 3 for the most part have been good cars for me with minimal problems. The 02 has the best V6 engine (2.7) while the 98 & 00 had the 2.5. Also the 02 has the best brakes, more solid feel, quieter, etc. (all 3 have/had 4 wheel disc anti-lock, however the 02 doesn't offer traction control). The 02 was also the most solid feeling structure. However that's where my praise stops. The 02 was also the most deconteted. My 98 JX had more standard features and more amenities than 02 GTC does. The 00 JXI felt luxurious and loaded with features compared to the 02 GTC which was close to the same price.

One other note: Chrysler seriously needs to improve their trim color offerings. With the exception of the Limited model, having Tan or Grey as the only interior trim colors is pretty unexciting and cheap looking.

To the contrary, I loved my 2002 Sebring until-I had it in the shop 8 times for the brakes and the 2.7 engine seized and Chrysler will not cover this under warranty as they say not enough oil changes were done. I am currently putting in a 2.7 reconditioned motor by jasper at a cost of almost $6,000. I will never buy chrysler again.
