2000 Daewoo Nubira SE

Summary:

The next time my car is towed, it will be to the junk yard

Faults:

The wiring for the automatic door locks shorted out.

The trunk lock broke two times.

And now, the right front wheel bearing has gone out.

General Comments:

OK car if you like breakdowns.

Suspension is terrible.

Daewoo is in Bankruptcy and it's very difficult to get parts.

2000 Daewoo Nubira SE 2.0 DOHC 4 cylinder

Summary:

A diamond in the ruff, that will soon be gone..

Faults:

I've built my Nuby into a nice little street machine and I must admit, I drive it pretty hard. The slave on the clutch finally ripped, and to be honest, I'm surprised it took so long! A whole 30 bucks, replacement! Dang!

Alright, so parts can be a little hard to find. But it was nothing the local import parts store doesn't have.

The dealerships are worthless. They are not helpful, and to be honest, aren't very knowledgeable either. You'd be better off going to another place for service.

General Comments:

I've heard many bad things about this car, and all I have to say is... Learn to drive! This car is a great value.

Out of the 3 Daewoo's available, it has the best potential for hi-rev tuning. And it works great. I've already taken mine, from San Diego, to Seattle, and then back to Phoenix, in one trip! No problems.

The suspension is tight, and rough. Some people don't like this. These people fly off the road at 135 mph. Yes, it does that...stock.

I've heard a few things about engine noise. Hey, some of us like to hear the engine. Besides, I like my car loud as can be. Toss on a nice aftermarket exhuast, and it does the job nicely.

I hope you don't race your Daewoo. That would be quite a dumb idea. I hope that by "after market exhaust" you don't mean a $40 trash can size fart-tip from pep-boys like everyone has on their Cavaliers, and other crappy cars.

2000 Daewoo Nubira CDX 2.0

Summary:

A roulette wheel without your numbers or colors

Faults:

As Dae Woo has filed bankruptcy, we no longer have our warranty that covered everything including oil changes.

General Comments:

This car has been very reliable, but if something should go wrong I am worried that I will have no where to turn, but to bankruptcy.

I was going to trade this car in, but, it appears that the depreciation has dropped the value of this vehicle lower than the price of paper that an appraisal would be printed on.

Don't be so scared, nothing is dubious in this world, GM bought it and you can very easily get parts, even some independent companies make parts, it's a car not a plane that may crash anytime, and my Nubira runs great, and any repair shop can fix in case problem arises...

Summary:

You get what you pay for, the price is cheap, but the headaches aren't

Faults:

It took two weeks to get a replacement bulb for the fog lights.

I came out to my car after work one evening and found that the passenger side, side view mirror had fallen off. I was parked at the curb and there was no evidence of impact. The dealer replaced it, it was under warranty. It took three visits to complete the job and it took about a month to get the part.

I had to replace the brake rotor at 35,000 miles and 90% of my driving is on the highway.

The car is making a noise from the rear and I believe it's the brakes again. I can't drive my car right now because of another problem, so I haven't taken it to be checked yet.

The major problem is that there is an oil leak. The oil pump is leaking, the oil pan needs to be replaced. I have been waiting for the parts since Aug 26th. They have no idea when the parts will arrive. My car smokes very badly. They will not give me a rental car. I was told to take the car home because they didn't know how long it would take to fix it. I am very disappointed. The parts are minor parts and won't take much to fix it, but it is creating a major hardship for me. I don't live near public transportation, so I drive it to the grocery store and people pull me over and tell me that my car is on fire. It's very nerve racking. Also, I am recovering from a massive stroke and don't need to breathe the smoke. The oil is dripping onto the manifold and I am told that it's very dangerous to drive.

My brake lights have gone out twice, the first time because there was a crack in the lenses, and condensation had gotten inside, they fixed it under warranty the first time, I haven't taken it back for the second time yet.

My concern is that the problems have been minor, and trying to get parts has been a major problem. What happens if something major goes wrong?

The dealer I usually take it to, is trying to not service Daewoo's anymore.

The closest dealer is about 12 miles from my house, the next closest is about 70 miles, the one after that is about 85 miles from my house.

One more problem, I had to call around to find the size tires for my car. That size isn't commonly carried, when IA found them, they were very expensive.

General Comments:

The car is cute, but that's about it.

Obtaining service and parts is a major problem.
