1995 Dodge Avenger Base 2.0 DOHC 4 cylinder
Summary:
A fun car, good on gas, and great looking too
Faults:
The transmission blew the casing apart around Christmas 2000, which was replaced under my extended warranty from my dealer.
Had to replace the plugs and wires about four months ago, due to a short in a wire.
Have a small intermittent thunk in the front end over certain bumps. This hasn't been figured out yet.
General Comments:
After owning a Camaro, I knew this car wouldn't have a lot of performance to equal that. I was fairly surprised at what I did end up with. My car has a 5 speed manual transmission, which isn't nearly as quick as my other car, but isn't a slouch either.
I do wish the suspension was a little tighter, but that is probably because I miss the rail-like handling of my previous car.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I own a 1995 dodge avenger and a 1995 Chrysler sebring lxi they are great cars. As for the thunk both of you guys hear it is a lower ball joint causing that. It cost me $800 canadian to replace it and it is new again. My Sebring transmission is perfect, but the avenger I rebuilt it 6 times now. thanks, and remember GRAD LIFE BY THE HORNS DRIVE A DODGE.

I own a 95 Avenger and I love it... I also have that annoying THUNK sound in the front end, but after many examinations by numerous mechanics it was 2 things, the plastic right behind the bottom of the front bumper was a little loose causing most of the noise, and the pinion bolt, which doesn't effect the pinion at all, just makes a rattle noise every so often, what I was told was turn your stereo up and ignore it...
