2011 Dodge Avenger Mainstreet Heat 3.6L

Summary:

Best value for money, and a pleasant surprise from Dodge

Faults:

I know this is a new car, but nothing has gone wrong with this car as of yet.

General Comments:

Well I bought a 2005 Dodge Neon brand new, and while it was a relatively inexpensive vehicle, it was reliable. That was about it. The build quality was not what I would have liked to see from Dodge, and overall I was unhappy.

HOWEVER, with this new Dodge I am just amazed at the quality of the car. Not only does the new Dodge look better, but they feel better to the touch as well. All the stitching in the car has been done in red, as well as the centers of the seats. There is a lot of room up front, and even though the back might seem a little enclosed, there is still plenty of room for 2 more adults.

This Avenger is the Heat edition with the new 3.6L V6, and there is a lot more power out of this engine than I would have thought, but I am still getting 30 MPG with a K&N air filter. The car also feels very well planted on curvy mountain roads, but smooth on the highway. I think this is the best mix between power and fuel economy, and of sporty/smooth ride. The Dodge Avenger is really worth a look if you're in the market for a smaller mid-sized car.

2011 Dodge Avenger Heat 3.6

Summary:

Outstanding value, fantastic car

Faults:

Nothing so far. The car is less than a year old, and only has 11k miles on it. I will update as time goes on.

General Comments:

I have to say, I was an Avenger fan going into this car. My last car was an 08 Avenger that was totalled in an accident and saved my life. Very much the reason for this purchase. Also, in the 90k miles I put on the last one, I only had one small issue with a tie rod end, so I was very happy with the overall reliability and performance.

My 2011 Avenger is a huge update compared to my 2008. The new interior is absolutely awesome. Fantastic materials and features. I like the chrome touches. This one also has the Navigation, which is also nice. The two-tone seats and inserts on the doors look sporty, vs the plain gray interior my last one had. Although I really didn't have an issue with the interior on my last one, the quality on the 2011 is far superior.

The heated seats and remote are start great. Since Wisconsin has 8 months of winter, these two items will be used frequently. The seats in this one are more supportive. I have taken a trip to Phoenix and Austin and never got sore. This car also has a lot of other nice features, UConnect Bluetooth, MyGig, ESC, Sirius radio, and a good standard sound system.

I opted for the 3.6 engine in this one. My last one had the four cylinder. Although that engine was enough power for me, the "Pentastar" engine is a beast. It's dead quiet, smooth, seamless and efficient. I have gotten 30mpg on the highway. Not bad at all for the amount of power this engine has.

For all the features this car has, the sticker price was only $25450, way cheaper than some competitors with the same equipment.

I've never been happy enough with a car to feel compelled to write a review. I really feel this car deserves some recognition. I was always a Chevy guy up until a few years ago when we had a very bad experience with a 2006 Impala and an 08 Equinox. This is my third Dodge, the first being my 08 Avenger, and our main family vehicle is a 2009 Grand Caravan. All have been great. Assuming they keep up the good work, that's probably what we'll be buying from here on out. At the very least, give this car a drive. Thanks for reading.

Chrysler corporation is doing a great job now. For two months straight their U.S. sales have exceeded all import brands. My last Dodge made a quarter million miles with virtually zero problems. One of my handicapped friends (for whom a reliable car is a must) just traded his bullet-proof 2001 Neon for a 2011 Avenger. Although the car before his Neon was a Ford that made 200,000 trouble-free miles, he is now sold on Dodge. He has been very fortunate to find a great dealership that treats him very well, and even provides him with a ride to and from his home when he drops his cars off for routine servicing if the wait is over an hour. The reliability and dealer service has made him a Chrysler fan.

Perhaps you would have fared just as well in any other car in the Avenger's segment. These "saved my life" claims are always dubious at very best.
