2000 Dodge Caravan Sport 3.3L. V6
Summary:
It is OK
Faults:
The steering column failed at 60,00 miles. Dealer said they had never seen anything like it. The van was put in park on an incline, and when shifting out, it broke the gear shift lock mechanism.
Many small things such as power door locks keep failing, even when fixed by dodge.
The dimming switch failed at 70,000 miles, it is considered a wear item, therefore not under warranty.
It goes through brake pads every 7-10 thousand miles, it did this even when new, dealer states that this is a common occurrence.
Ignition tumbler has also failed at 80,000 miles. And is very expensive to have replaced by a dodge dealer.
Transmission has also slipped since 50,000 miles, but the dealer keeps saying it needs maintenance. Well I have serviced the transmission every thirty thousand miles. So what is wrong?
General Comments:
The van is overall a good one. It hauls supplies and people around well.
But dodge really needs to make those A/C compressors so they do not rattle while van is idling.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

The problems you describe should have been rectified by someone who knows what they are doing.
Have they tried replacing the belt tensioner?
Try taking it to a mechanic who is not a moron.
