1999 Dodge Dakota 5.2L V8
Faults:
I would start the truck early in the morning; sometimes after warming it up I would drive off and you could hear like a lot of air somewhere in the transmission I'll say.
I always knew that was not normal, but I still drove it like that for about a year and 3 months; I would just make sure to warm it up because for some reason that would avoid the noise.
My transmission went out after owning this pickup truck for quite some time. I use this bad boy as a commercial truck, carrying metal fences and gates, therefore it carries lots of weight. Not once did it leave me stranded, therefore I will be rebuilding my transmission; anything for my bad boy.
It all started with the check engine light coming on; the code was p1756, which is the governor pressure sensor and the solenoid sensor, which are inside the transmission. I paid for the sensors to be replaced, but for some reason the truck felt the same and the light came on again... I kept it park for about 4 days, and when I moved it for the street sweeper to pass, I noticed that when I put it in "P" to park, it was still rolling.
In order for me park, I literally had to press the emergency brake and turn it off. Now it wouldn't turn on basically it was still in Drive.
General Comments:
Good reliable truck.
Yes I will be rebuilding my transmission.
This is my first Dodge pickup.
It's been loyal to me; I gotta be loyal back.
My keeper.
