2004 Dodge Dakota 2 door extended cab 4.7L Magnum V8
Summary:
Love it. So much torque for the class
Faults:
When we bought the truck, it had 20" wheels and skinny tires. Looked really nice and slick.
But the ride was absolutely AWFUL!, bump steer left and right, tires worn out on outer walls to the extreme. Felt like you had no control on the highway.
Eventually we traded the oversized for factory and what a difference! All of the problems - gone!
General Comments:
We think oversized tires are a really bad idea on a truck like this. While it looks really cool, they are just not practical. We needed the truck for it being a truck, and it couldn't really deliver.
The V8 Dakota has a crap ton of torque, and a lot of horses for a truck in this class. I love feeling the torque off the line, and the sound of the V8 revving up. Can really feel it pull you off the line from 0-40. (I have to admit to smoking those old 20's before trading them... sooo much fun)
Gas mileage is so wretched for the city. But that's what you get for driving a heavy pickup with a V8, and occasionally like hearing the sound of the V8 get you up to speed.
Highway is not bad though, I get about 22 or so, which makes it nice for trips.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Sorry you had so many problems! I have had nothing go wrong with my 2004 with the V8. Hopefully you won't have any more problems!
