1987 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z 2.2 intercooled turbo
Summary:
Awesome
Faults:
Timing belt broke at 63000 miles, but was my fault for not having it changed!
General Comments:
I bought my 87 Shelby Z brand new, and drag raced it at Englishtown NJ for 6 years, and drove the heck out of it on the track and on the street, and never broke anything ever!
It now has 76000 miles on it in 2010! If you keep it properly maintained and let the turbo cool down before shutting off the engine, it will last a very long time!
The drive train is bullet proof if you know how to drive properly. There is a fine line between driving hard and plain abuse!
With a few easy modifications, these cars are Mustang and Camaro eaters, and handle fantastic on twisty roads!
The suspension is hard on bumpy uneven pavement, just like a big block B body Mopar, but that's the way I like it!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have a white 1988 Shelby Z Daytona--I am the original owner and I LOVE THIS CAR!!! It just turned 104,000 miles and just his year I had to replace the turbo. It has the factory T-Tops and as many of the bells and whistles that Dodge had then... I don't have the leather interior, but I love the grey velour like seats... especially in the winter. I just fixed my first piece of rust this year... otherwise this car is just great to drive. My brother has a black/gold 86 Turbo Z and I can outdo him...
