1998 Dodge Durango SLT Plus 5.2L V8
Summary:
I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!! It's awesome!!
Faults:
We've replaced the Front brakes several times through out the years.
The Front bearings went in 2001, my Husband replaced them with minor troubles. We had to replace the drivers side again in 2006 but due to large road work in the area.
The transmission sensor went which was replaced at the dealership, but was kind of scary because it caused the speedometer and all other gauges to stop working!!!
Replaced the water pump in 2006 at about 150,000 miles.
The transmission is starting to give me problems, but with regular flushes and up keep has been very reliable.
General Comments:
I love my Durango, no the gas mileage isn't great, but HELLO it's a V8!!! This truck has been everywhere and has never left me in the lurch!!!
My parents own a '98 Durango which has well over 200,000 miles!! And is still going strong!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Good to see another person with a good Dodge Durango experience. I have a 99 Durango and it runs very well. I am anal about getting scheduled work done on it and have had it for about 4 years. I got it with 62k miles and now it's at 104K. I got new tires (goodyear fortera's), ball joints replaced, engine flush and tune up, transmission oil replaced, ABS sensor replaced, Oil change every 3000 miles, new brakes all the way around, replaced all windshield wipers and new K&N air filter. I did not do these things all at once since I'm not made of money, but what I have done has made a big difference in how she rides. She rides very smooth and with power which I love. I also did some small outside mods, new mud flaps, chrome exhaust pipe, new rain guard and bug shield. No rims since I can't see myself parting with that kind of money when I have a family to provide for. I rather spend that money on a disney trip for everyone instead of just me.
She looks and runs great. I hope to push her to around 250k. I treat the truck well and she rides well in return. I have taken this truck from PA to Conn, and it road very well. Great for long trips with the family. It pains me to see so many people with problems with there truck. I hope what I have done will head off some of these troubles at least for a while.
